An introduction is in order so here it is:

My name is Mia and I have been on tumblr for a little while now.

I use this account mostly to post (and repost) about shows, music, art and other things I like.

Those things include (but are not limited to):

-Buttons!!!

-mycology, mushroom foraging and botanical drawings of mushrooms

- Some shows I like are: Arcane and Adventure time

-Best movies ever are Labyrinth (with David Bowie), Kiki’s delivery service, Ponyo, Howl’s Moving castle and Arrietty.

- Music wise I love Blur, The Smiths and the Beatles with a few other bands and genres sprinkled in lmao

I haven’t really been able to find a fiction podcast to listen to since I finished TMA. I really like the horror aspect to TMA.

FOTD #081 : shaggy ink cap! (coprinus comatus)

the shaggy ink cap (also called lawyer's wig or shaggy mane) is an inkcap fungus in the family agaricaceae. it is famous for its pitch-black spore-filled ink !! it is said to often grow in "unexpected" places, & has been recorded in south africa, europe, north america, aotearoa & australia. it is also carnivorous :-)

the big question : can i bite it?? yes !! the mushroom is edible when young / before deliquescence.

c. comatus description :

"the shaggy ink cap is easily recognizable from its almost cylindrical cap which initially covers most of its stem. the cap ranges from 4–8 cm (1+5⁄8–3+1⁄8 in) in width & 6–20 cm (2+3⁄8–7+7⁄8 in) in height. it is mostly white with shaggy scales, which are more pale brown at the apex. the free gills change rapidly from white to pink, then to black. it is deliquescent. the white & fairly thick stipe measures 6–40 cm (2–16 in) high by 1–2.5 cm (1⁄2–1 in) in diameter & has a loose ring near the bottom."

freaky fungi fact - mycology vocab :-)

deliquescence : the process of certain fungi (most often ink caps) where they turn to liquid.

this process is observed in a handful of different fungi !! as their caps mature, they furl inward & turn to a spore-filled, inky liquid.

yes, this liquid can be harvested & used for actual pen ink. :-) just make sure to add preservatives to avoid it causing a rotten smell.

to use it in a sentence : the mushrooms above are experiencing deliquescence ; they are deliquescing !! ink caps are deliquescent.

Im getting ready to dm a group for the first time, does anyone have any helpful tips n tricks?

i’m just obsessed with how art styles and color are used in across the spiderverse???? like the impressionism of gwen’s universe becomes more and more abstract and reaching this kandinsky like background when gwen reconciles with her dad?? as if they found clarity and understanding through abstraction, by freeing themselves of their pre-conceived ideas of how things should be? and i feel like that feeds into how the movie is questioning how tied any of them are to their fates

also i think kandinsky had synesthesia, which also ties into gwen’s association with music (ie the opening scenes where she’s playing drums and you see visual representation of the music)
