I was in 1st/2nd grade grade when the big Pokémon boom of the late 90s-early 00s happened. It was HUGE. Every kid was into it and we’d watch the show and play pretend and collect the cards and bring our game boys to school to trade Pokémon during recess. I was lucky to have supportive parents, but I remember how teachers and other adults would scoff and say how tired they were of Pokémon, how annoying and juvenile it was and how they couldn’t wait for us to “get over it already”. I might have been young, but I still remember how much these kinds of comments bummed me out. Why in the world are we being mean to little kids who like Fortnite

Because… Fortnite is very popular amongst children at the moment? And there are adults who dismiss it in the same way other adults did when Pokémon was big, calling it stupid, saying the dances are annoying, how much they can’t wait for the “fad to be over”, etc. It’s pretty much the same scenario.

Fortnite has a lootbox system that is glorified gambling, and can cause patterns of addiction in even adult minds, and that is in fact its intended goal in order for the game to make money from microtransactions. That’s how all games with lootboxes function. That’s how they draw in their customer base and squeeze more money out of them.

Like, I don’t judge kids who enjoy Fortnite. My little cousin plays Fortnite.

But last week, my little cousin also stole his mother’s credit card and spent about a month’s salary on microtransactions without his parents’ knowledge.

Modern gaming has become vile and predatory in ways that we didn’t have to deal with as children.

And we shouldn’t be mean to children about this, but we should definitely be coming down on these companies like a pile of fucking bricks.

You’re not  making the same fucking argument. OP is talking about people calling it stupid and trashing kids for liking it and doing the dances and all the bullshit that was flung at people our age because of Pokemon. Which it, and cartoons before it, were considered predatory back in the day because they wanted to sell kids products and a lot of it. Making what they enjoyed just ‘one big commercial’.  But coming down on loot boxes and companies that use them should never be mentioned in the same breath if your’re trying to defend kids liking it. Why even bring it up then?  Like your argument is not very far from ‘it’s corrupting the kids so it’s bad’ just like what was used against Pokemon despite you defending kids liking it.

We can live in a world where capitalism and liberalism co-exist in harmony. We don’t need to turn to socialism in order to meet global needs. The best thing we can do is encourage liberalism in economics as much as liberalism in social politics. The two are directly correlated and the separation of them would mean the end of freedom as we know it.

We should refuse to be bullied by large corporations and The State should exist as a barrier and shield against large corporations in favor of citizens, not the other way around. We must show the world that the individual is superior in all ways to the corporation. There must be laws protecting this philosophy. They must not be misinterpreted.

Fairy bread originated in the 20s as basically a sweet snack for kids. From what I know there wasn’t a lot in the way of sweets in Australia for kids at the time, this was a more affordable treat at least.

Toast sandwiches are from Victorian era and older for those who were invalid and couldn’t stomach much or possibly didn’t have much food in the house.

I can’t find anything about water sandwiches other than it being a clear joke, but if it was rea in a serious context I’d imagine it’d be for the same reason as toast sandwiches: if you didn’t have ice and couldn’t make it but needed to get liquid into an invalid.

But rather than understand the history behind dishes or anything Tumblr would rather go ‘lol white people’.

(Seriously someone sent a message a little like that (though even more pushy and whining about hugs rather than advice) a while back and I had Bendy answer it, but I actually privated it because I felt like it was too mean, but yeah just… know you can’t guilt trip Bendy. You just can’t.

If you want something from Bendy, ask for it. If you try to manipulate him into feeling bad for you or feeling as if he owes you something because you’re a fan or that he should prove himself etc. he is not responsive to that. He will call you out without mercy.

He has spent a lot of time dealing with manipulation on all fronts in his life and he’ll be damned if he’s gonna let anyone, not least of all random strangers, walk all over him. Bendy doesn’t fuck around. -HG)
