i wish my brain were not full of gludge. i would like to be using it & because of the gludge i cannot do that.
He only did that the whole movie XD
Eurylochus: What was the song of the sirens like? Odysseus: All the things you wanted to be and then all the things you wished you never wished for. It was a delicious itch you want to scratch but you find it under the skin and can't reach it. So the delicious itch becomes unbearable. It told you what you most want is what you most can't have and that the most you can't have is what you already had and lost. It was a song of all the promises I failed to keep. And it told me I don't really want to go home.
THE ODYSSEY (2026) dir. Christopher Nolan
Stop saying “do it scared” i do everything scared I sleep scared Boy i’ll kill u
Talking with my partner about the Odessey made me realize something...
Hatred has gotten OUT OF CONTROL in "fandom" spaces. The amount of opinions people have on the odyssey is kind of ridiculous (I'm not a Nolan fan FOR THE RECORD). And I realized it's the same with IWTV. People are angry a lot rn. People are SO angry and they can't do anything with that anger bc the people in power are so far away. So they're turning to media and art with that anger stored inside, and unless it's Exactly what they want it to be they explode, because how dare one more thing in their life be "wrong". And I get it, but it is SO TOXIC.
If you feel the need to yell at a writer of a tv show on social media, you've already lost. We are turning the last spaces of enjoyment into places of violence on the internet
So is this just a sequel to Riverdale but with a different cast? Sounds about the same as Roberto's version of the Archie characters.
you guys are splitting hairs about the nobody scene that nolan cut from the odyssey. he swapped it for the awesome character motif of odysseus strumming his bow to warn animals of his presence - a gesture he does not make for humans. he combats animals but he hunts people. instead of doubling down on the overdone hubris thing, nolan makes us hear the sound of odysseus strumming his bow all throughout the music. we got a version of odysseus that is godlike in the homeric sense, and you guys go grrrrr where are my obvious themes and character beats grrrrrr
Okay. For my money, the entire thesis of Chris Nolan’s 2026 film The Odyssey is that society chokes and sputters and dies when we abuse, ignore, or violate social norms like the laws of hospitality. That is not really what The Odyssey (the book/poem) is about, but I can clearly see why in the horror that is the 2020s, someone could read The Odyssey and go oh my god that’s a lot of bad dropping in. That’s a lot of bad visits. That’s a clear vision of how the loss of social norms and cohesion fucks you up and how war, literal, brutal war, is a terrible wound that destroys your humanity and your understanding of what civilization and society is. I don’t know that the iteration of Greek society that ultimately birthed the poem would agree with Nolan’s take, but I think this movie is quite ideologically coherent, that Nolan knew exactly what he was trying to say with each and every adaptational change, and I think he wasn’t nuts for using one of the most famous classical western civilization works as a way to make that argument.
omg you people can do anything
Ask me to walk on fucking water Malborn
it is always narratively correct to make your characters sleep together before they sort through the hundreds of lies and misdirections between them. make things worse make things worse make things worse #i love betrayal #i love lying #i love people feeling bad about themselves
