Chi: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite (2024) Ep. 6
i hate that concerns about urban gardening/foraging safety is often met with "What are you, a cop?" scorn. I believe it's a suspicion of anything that hinders the punk/anti-system urgency to jump in immediately and do whatever feels right.
Safety, ethics, and sustainability are all a part of urban gardening and foraging. I'm sorry that means you need to do homework before you can do anything, I know that sounds lame. But life is complicated.
I know anti-intellectualism is viewed as activist these days, but like, surely you don't want to literally eat lead, right?
Let’s check in and see how those rascally solarpunk kids are doing, surely they’ve learned by now that…..
Daily reminder: Leafy greens like kales uptake all those delicious heavy metals in urban soils like lead and cadmium.
Don’t eat sidewalk-crack kale.

Long ago, at the Academy, Plato and Aristotle lived together, despite their differing ideas. It's only when diverse opinions gather in the open that reason is perfected.

I'm not aromantic but I believe in their beliefs
I don't know how much this has actually been discussed in online spaces, but when I talk to other aros irl it's pretty widely agreed apon that being aromantic is both an orientation and a political identity. By which I mean that being aromantic requires a massive shift in world view, including the dismantling of amatonormativity, the deconstruction of what the word 'love' even means, and the realization that you have control over what your important relationships look like.
All of those things can have a major impact on your political outlooks, social outlooks, and simply the way you view the world. I've said before that even if I did experience romantic attraction some day I would still identify as aro because being aromantic has shifted my view of what relationships even are to such a degree that like... romantic relationships barely make sense as a category to apply to myself anymore.
Everyone I know who identified as aro or questioned if they were aro before experiencing attraction and identifying as allo has ended up poly for what I suspect is this exact reason. Polyamory is one of the only relationship models out there currently that allows for romantic relationships outside of the typical amatonormative model and once you've done some work dismantling how society views relationships slotting right back into traditional monogamy doesn't have a lot of appeal.
So anyways op, I know a lot of folks in the notes are taking this to simply mean 'not wanting to date' (which is fine, that is still a radical notion in our society that I'm glad the aro community can make space for) but I think your tags are absolutely right about pushing amatonormativity out of our spaces as an aro value that people can (and should!) believe in and benefit from even if they're not aro.

I’ve made this a couple times, guys HIGHLY recommend. It’s about the easiest recipe you can make and it is so so so good.
Manual Wheelchair Tutorial by Fade31415
So... I technically drew this 3 years ago but forgot to post it. I think I was going to clean up the end and make a nice recap, but I ran out of steam and then just left it as a wip for years. I got reminded of it because I was talking to a friend about how to draw wheelchairs today.
This covers most of what I view as the most common errors when it comes to drawing characters who use manual wheelchairs. I hope it helps you a lot.

Don’t….. fuckin power wash your roof. Don’t let anyone power wash your roof.
Friend, from the tone of your words, I feel like you’ve just learnt a hard lesson here…
Fortunately no, it was an easy lesson I learned when I was seven when my dad was power washing the driveway and I asked if he was going to power wash the roof next and he explained to me that it would damage the roof because it was meant to handle rain and snow, which is never going to be as hard as a power washer.
Lots of people are learning this the hard way this year though. It’s a new scam. Someone knocks on your door and offers to wash your roof for two hundred bucks. “Damn, that’s a pretty good price,” you think, knowing that roofs require a huge chunk of change. The guy power washes the roof and leaves. It was a cash transaction, and he didn’t leave contact information, so when your roof starts leaking during the first rain, you have no one to contact to sue for damages and you’re stuck on the hook for replacing the roof yourself, which you either do yourself (cost of materials and many hours of your time) or you hire someone to do for you (which runs into the tens of thousands of dollars, an amount people normally can’t just drop).
Lots of new homeowners don’t know this stuff, and it would definitely behoove them to research it, but until they have the time to do that, I’m here to say: Don’t power wash your roof.
starting to sort these into posts independent of asks LOL don’t mind me. teens vs old men post
