Men in Love
Some men in love
are not gentle at first glance.
They arrive like chaos
rough hands, tired eyes,
anger sitting heavily in their bones
like life taught them survival
before it ever taught them tenderness.
They do not know beautiful words.
They do not know polished love.
Most of them have spent their entire lives
mistaking endurance for worth.
But then they meet someone
quiet enough
to awaken the softness
they buried to survive.
And suddenly,
the man who once moved through life like a storm
begins remembering small things.
Your usual drink.
The silence you carry after losing someone.
The broken light in your shop.
The unsafe walk home you pretend does not scare you.
Some men in love
do not flirt beautifully.
They protect beautifully.
They stand beside you at funerals
without knowing how to comfort you properly.
They hold your grief carefully
like it belongs to them too.
Fix problems silently.
Work themselves exhausted
trying to build a future
they are secretly terrified they do not deserve.
And that is the devastating thing about them.
They love like they are running out of time.
Like devotion is something that must be proven.
Like if they give enough, sacrifice enough, endure enough….
maybe they will finally become worthy
of being chosen.
So they offer what they can:
a meal,
a ride home,
medicine at midnight,
their last bit of money,
their sleep,
their pride,
their entire being.
Not because they are weak.
But because loving someone
becomes the first peaceful thing
that has ever happened to them.
And when life turns cruel again,
they do something tragic.
They disappear quietly.
Because somewhere deep inside,
they still believe
love means protecting you
even from themselves.
That is what hurts the most.
Not that he loved her.
But that he loved her enough
to leave the life
he wanted most.
Some men in love
do not hold flowers.
They hold the weight of your sadness
until their own hands begin to shake.
And still….
they will ask if you ate,
if you got home safely,
if you are sleeping enough,
as if their own heart
is not collapsing quietly beside yours.

Hopeful
I am to the brim with desire.
It seems another realm, at times.
It looks far off.
On the horizon, and at the edge of sight, my past glimmers in front of me.
Not so much the when or where, but definitely the how and why.
I roll around in craving,
longing for something to matter more.
I used to know how to believe.
I often saunter through life, forgetting where I was headed.
Other times, chasms open in my path.
I get manic enough to leap across.
I get somber enough to climb straight down, knowing there is rarely a surface to stand on at the bottom.
The ladder back up is rickety and missing rungs.
Scaling the rocks seems like a healthy practice, it just tires me out.
On the other side of the canyon, I remember where I’m headed, because I’m already there, standing at the precipice still.
The sun’s sinking softly, gasping through the foliage, but I love to lay in the moonlight.
…and resting feels like waking up.
I settle for another chance to leap.
I hunger for the feeling of falling.
People drop their mouths when they see something incredible, like they want to let it into themselves by accident. They widen their eyes as if they would see the part of it that made it happen. They try to freeze the light into something solid.
I watched them do it until I learned what it was that made it happen. It wasn’t the people, or their brains filled with chemicals, or their bodies lacking control. It wasn’t the events or spectacles possessing them with their vibrance. It was the air between the two. It was the space around the good being microwaved into sparks.
If you stand still enough, and watch somebody watch something, or see how somebody hears something, you can almost see them change color. Most start some shade of pale or pink, and then deepen depending on how the moment unfolds. Blush into blue, white into orange, gray into yellow and green.
I’ve watched a sunrise make him less sick. I’ve watched a lightning storm make her less scared. And I know when people stand still, they experience more time, by taking up less space. It’s scientific.
I live in a lesson lobby. My house is an ongoing experiment inside of an uncontrolled environment. But if I stand still, I have total and complete power to choose what I see happen, and how it happens in me. And I can let it out in equal measure. I do most of this upside down on a wall, crawling in several directions. I hope it makes people open their mouths and eyes, and stand still. Just sometimes.

Always
Rehabilitation
Just for today.
I don’t regret a thing.
I said the same thing yesterday.
I mean it.
Wholly.
Purposefully.
Fully.
Easily.
Thankfully.
Tomorrow never comes.
It’s a promise.
…a guarantee.
No warranty necessary.
I have faith in it.
Purely.
Truthfully.
Honestly.
Graciously.
Mercifully.
Yesterday is gone.
It’s a small burden.
It doesn’t weigh much.
It’s easier to carry now.
I won’t forget it.
Decisively.
Definitively.
Deeply.
Beautifully.
Perfectly.
i will never not reblog this!

IS ANYTHING REAL?!?! 😭
1) love needs action => not just words
2) trust needs proof => consistency over time not paranoia (no surveillance or tests)
3) sorry needs change => accountability not excuses
Heyy can we be frnds
Definitely. We could all use those right now. 😁
It’ll grow back…probably.
