(ok so just imagine we’re in a universe where Ryland lives in Michigan)

i’d imagine that Grace would be skeptical of a lot of science like the theory of evolution due to her very heavy religious beliefs. and so one of her science teachers would ask Ryland to come in and tutor her since he’s a fairly smart guy and Grace doesn’t trust her current teachers. the Chasitys would invite him over for dinner or something, and I think they’d would really like him (his sense of humor, his refusal to swear, etc etc). so he would eventually become a family friend. he’s not exactly religious, but he was probably raised that way, so he can be vague enough abt his beliefs to make them not try to convert him. he tutors grace all the way through high school, while still teaching the younger kids as his main job. then all the Nerdy Prudes stuff happens. Grace is briefly wanted by the police, before all charges mysteriously get dropped. Ryland stops by to check on her and he finds that she no longer believes in God, and is filled with a deep need to “get revenge on dirty dudes.” (Ryland is exempt from her rampage because she can tell he’s aroace as fuck). so now he’s trying to contain this teenage girl and her newfound inexplicable ability to eat people’s souls.

in honor of my post ranting about crazy wolfeus fans here are my top 5 non-jack wolfe orphei

(with the added context that jack wolfe is honestly like #2 in my ranking i do really love him)

i haven't seen enough of him to give him a solid top 5 spot but i believe he will get there. opening night and he already is giving vocals like no other. from what i've heard, he's amazing!! as his run goes on i'm sure he'll move up

original 2010 concept album orpheus! such an interesting vocal take on the role, lower voice, and god do i adore his wait for me. it's so unique and soft, he just brings such a tender energy to the role i love.

4. REEVE CARNEY

originated the role on broadway! when i think of orpheus, he's the first one i go to. he's so awkward and genuine it's really really cute. to most people he is THE orpheus (because broadway cast album). i find his voice a little grating at times but i still love him trust

west end cast recording orpheus! his if it's true is a spiritual experience. his come home with me? adorable. i have never seen a video of him admittedly but his vocals are insane and bring so much emotion and personality to the role i am OBSESSED

I completely agree that the Jack Wolfe fans can be a lot, especially on tiktok, but I really feel like it deserves mentioning that they were not the first to attack people in comment sections if they didn't agree with people's picks for top Orpheus. Especially the Jordan Fisher fans have been extreme in doing that, I saw that long before Jack was cast or I even really knew what Hadestown was. They were yelling and fighting everyone who didn't have him as favorite in every Hadestown video I saw. I thought he'd originated the role with how insistent and aggressive they were.

They're all great, there's no need to pit any of them against each other.

I have never had a more genius idea but one day i’m sitting in musical theatre. Our show this year is Hadestown and I was kinda fucking around since rehearsal was over when I spoke out, “what if instead of Hadestown, it was Hamnertown?”

Being named after my tyrant of a band teacher, - who I always joked had been similar to Hades - I had only simply been joking.. but its gone too far. I’ve so far rewritten 7 songs in Hadestown to fit Hamnertown and I’m planning on doing the rest 🥹🥹 wish me luck cause i’m too dedicated to stop
