“I am familiar with Balerion my father was his rider until the dragon’s death. While he died before I was born I’ve seen his skull and heard the stories much like the others from my line. If he had lived I’m sure he would have been my first dragon ride.” She had no doubt that her father would have taken her on rides as an infant if he had the mount for it. “Meereen is a long way from here, my lady, but if you remember those things it sounds like you had some kind of accident.”

Her mouth screwed up for a moment in thought before relaxing. “I worry your dragon may not be here either with what you said.” The princess would make sure that an eye was kept for it though in case they encountered a rogue dragon. That wouldn’t do with how many dragons that were flying around and in the pits. “I will have my men keep an eye out for him though. A dragon rider without a dragon is a sad sight.”

At the pitiful sound of her saying she wished to return home Rhaenyra raised her brows at her. If she were anyone else she would be judging the girl claiming to be a member of her house for being so pitiful. When she switched to Valyrian her brows went back down contemplating answering her truthfully or not. “I’m sixteen. What about you?” She replied plainly back in the same language.

She could still feel Drogon. His worry, and his rage, somewhere where she was not. He felt as lost as she did, and her fingers clutch at the fabric of her dress at her belly.

“Only ten and six.” Daenerys says, speaking the same Valyrian she always has. “Almost ten and six? I cannot remember if I have had my name day. I have been more concerned with my useless husband, and Meereen.” She feels a kinship, though it all feels so completely and utterly wrong. Daenaerys thinks she might speak the truth.

“You are truly Rhaenyra then? Daughter of Viserys the first? Mother of-” And she stops, sure it does not matter too much now if Rhaenyra was only ten and six. “Then I am truly lost.” But she would not cry. Not once in front of her. Soot and ash cover her, her hair is such a mess she would need to rebraid it, and Daenerys takes a deep breath.

“Six and ten.. you were born... before the Great Council... Aegon was born after..” Viserys was sometimes unclear on dates, and she remembers he was only a child when the rebellion happened. “I am afraid my histories are not perfect. I know I am not to be believed, but as willing as I am to believe you, I wish for the same courtesy. Are you willing to at least listen to me?”

Rhaenyra liked the idea that her son already considered his step-sisters his actual sisters even though it had not been long. She noticed how Daemon looked at him also which only made her own smile brighter. “You think so?” She looked to Daemon knowing that most babies no matter their gender were quite loud when they wanted to be. “I would like a little girl too if only to even the numbers out.”

“Well, Joffrey was quite loud, but my grandmother says that Aemond was a quiet babe.” That had been before he grew up, arrogant, and upsetting. And his eye had not been so ugly...

“A sister that I could take on dragon back, and fly to Kings Landing to show grandfather.” Oh how Viserys had told him one day the throne would be his, and Jace had felt nothing but apprehension. Not for many, many years he hoped. When he was an old man, who’s grandsire and mother had ruled very long years.

Rhaenyra couldn’t help but smile as he pointed out the obvious about not giving her the option to say no. “I do think your sister would be upset if you became dragon food.” She pointed out squeezing his hand another time this time giving it a little pull to get him off of his knee. “They have no place in our marriage so I agree that we should discuss those terms without them.” She rolled her eyes when he called himself a handsome arm piece. “Yes, my my handsome arm piece formally known as king consort.” She giggled.

“Debatable whether she would care. She might think you.” He stands at the squeeze of his hand, grinning brightly at his now betrothed princess. “Not King Consort yet.”

He gestured towards the open library they had now chanced upon, before shutting the doors behind them both. “I dare say a man has never been consort before. I am a son with no land to inherit, no title - so I suppose all that matters is our children are of your blood. Thus, with my sister’s help, I have come up with a solution for the very obvious nature of your desire. Being not me.” Nor was he particularly enamoured with her, but she was stunning, that much he would always say.

“If it suits your tastes, I would give you leave to pursue as such - but as a man, I can admit that my pride is much too large. I would need direct assurance our children are mine. In return, I shall not father any bastards, or put you to shame.”
