Amy Rose and Knuckles

The next main players

Amy Rose is a Scholar from a different continent a place unfamiliar with the Frankenstein's arena and the gladitory games they play. As dystopian and peculiar things seem to appear here there are other places with decidedly less brutal ways of living. Amy plans to write about the arena, particularly the people who have operated this way for generations.

She's expressed a deep compassion for the Gladiators and the things they are put through for the arena. Gladiators are not considered much past the one use they are made for. To most having pity for them was arbitrary. Some see her as a peculiar outsider while others see her as a nosy busy body involving herself with things she couldn't understand.

Amy focuses effort on interviewing those who are willing to give her the time of day. Which involves pestering people like Miles and Knuckles. And when she eventually befriends Rouge it becomes Shadow and even Robotniks problem.

Amy's first interaction with any scientist was actually when she attempted to interview Miles to which the boy responded by telling her to reign it in as the things she asked about were facts to this society and could be considered an insult and she should avoid asking just anyone lest she want to be killed. This drew her attention to the young fox as he seemed to be the youngest scientist on the boards. And despite Miles' efforts to maintain a harsh demeanor Amy realized it was a somewhat kind gesture to even warn her about these things in the first place. Amy also attempted to interview Sonic which wasn't exactly considered orthodox. Sonic has never actually given her proper answers to her questions but seems to enjoy being talked to so she continues.

Knuckles is an arena guard. Echidnas are actually common among the arena guard systems. Knuckles was raised to become an arena guard. He only recently got promoted to guarding inside the stands of the arena as most of his time before he was a sentry outside the gates. As such he isn't used to the big crowds quite yet. But he does his job well and *hates* distractions. And with both Amy and Rouge bothering him as soon as they show up he's starting to lose his mind.

Knuckles seems impatient and agitated most of the time (because he is) but contrary to popular belief he doesn't actually hate any of the main cast. Miles despite his bratty demeanor is actually very civil and considerate of Knuckles and his job willing to show up and chase off anyone bothering him. And with that Sonic is never far behind bringing knuckles random things (rocks, trinkets, snacks, ect) why they do this Knuckles doesn't actually know but he secretly appreciates the strange gesture.

He rarely if ever leaves the arena grounds as he considers it his job even outside of working hours. Many guards have rooms within the arena but it's not required they live there Knuckles is just a particular brand of dedicated. And besides that he doesn't have any family outside.

I don't currently have a lot of drawings of these two as I'm not entirely settled on their designs. I actually encourage suggestions for that sort of thing if one feels so inclined.

Now to introduce Miles' Gladiator Sonic.

Sonic is possibly 20 years old but neither he or Miles know this for sure. As mentioned before Sonic wasn't Miles' creation. Miles doesn't actually even know where they came from other than the fact that a reclusive neighbor of his preformed experiments on Sonic and then left them for dead. Miles has tried asking Sonic about this before but never gets a real answer.

Sonic cannot speak, his vocal cords were damaged in one of the previous experiments done before Miles found them. So Sonic communicates via sign language or in writing. Though Sonic and Miles can communicate directly through an experimental chip Miles developed that allows them to mentally communicate (Miles has a habit of responding to Sonics thoughts out loud.)

When they had first met Sonic was pretty worse for wear so Miles took the liberties of fixing him up past the already done modifications

Despite what he was designed for Sonic is pretty docile spending his time outside the arena reading, playing with Miles' other robots, or just wandering about.

Sonic takes on a caretaker role for Miles though does so in ways as to not impede on the foxes defensive claim of self sufficiency. Sonic will often keep track of how long Miles works and when he needs to eat.

If asked neither would imply a relationship past Scientist and Gladiator but spending any time around them shows this not to be the case. It's actually unusual for scientists to have a more close bond with their gladiators... certainly not unheard of just rarely expressed.

Though Sonic is seen wearing large platforms that seem like they'd impede his speed, if they're not in the arena they wear much lighter shoes. (And they can in fact use their speed while wearing those large platforms regardless lol)

If you happened to notice the use of both he/him and they/them pronouns for Sonic that's bc Sonic uses both.

Imma introduce the main character of this AU as well as introduce the setting.

Miles Prower is a young Mad scientist known to the Frankenstein's arena audience for his family's history succeeding with their creations. Now on his own Miles sought a gladiator to enter into the arena…

Miles is currently 17 years old. He spends pretty much all of his time experimenting and developing material to improve his chances in the arena. He also does repairs and sells trinkets on the side making work pile up a bit sometimes. If it weren't for Sonic this boy wouldn't be using a bed or eating properly. Workaholic at its finest.

Miles can be snappy and harsh but does secretly care about his creations and sometimes others. He enjoys creating and the praise that comes with succeeding. He's a self sufficient mad scientist... But he's still just 17.

Note Miles does not like to be called "Tails" and considers it an insult.

Setting information:

Frankenstein's arena is practically the center of this dystopian society. (Named after the one who designed the arena and its games.) The rules are rather simple. A scientist or a team of scientists will enter a Gladiator to the arena. Gladiators are creations put together by the scientist in their own creative ways: organic, robotic, modified, etc. There are many different types of battles but the gladiators will typically go against each other and the winner is moved up the bracket.

Gladiators, as long as they are in the arena, can die and be brought back at the end of the match. Time works differently on the floor of the arena. This hasn't been explained to the audience nor participants but there are still plenty seeking to understand the phenomenon.

While there is one large main arena there are plenty of smaller arenas clustered around the Frankensteins arena that operate with similar rules. Though still very brutal they're decidedly less lethal. Can't be brought back in those arenas so death matches are ruled out outside of the Frankensteins arena. Unless a group wishes for those kinds of stakes.

Fighting in the arena(s) and winning fights will win you different prizes. Plots of land, money, gifts, those sorts of things. There are plenty who make a living off of their gladiator fighting.

Miles Prower's family was like this. Well before they all died in unfortunate and strange ways leaving Miles alone to inherit the labs. Knowing the land could be taken away and given to another winner at any time (dystopian society laws are pretty wild) Miles decided to enter a Gladiator. Though maintains his side business doing repairs and selling small electronics as he didn't actually plan to make his living off of Frankenstein's arena.

Sonic... Was not actually created by Miles. He comes from a different scientist known for his chimeras... And his reclusive tendencies. While once known and respected in the arena he stopped participating ages ago though still makes strange creations. Most of which he leaves haphazardly around his property most dying without proper care. Needless to say Sonic was taken in by Miles.

Miles has since made his own adjustments and improvements to Sonic so he can be entered into the arena.

Once upon a time I had an askblog for this au.... Then I accidentally deleted it.

It's been a damn long time since that happened (at least it feels like it) and while I coulda tried to remake it right away I was too embarrassed and then simply forgot.

Found this little au in my gallery and I decided since I genuinely enjoy making weird AUs and sharing them I would make another blog. This time a little different in its set up.

Last time I didn't get the chance to introduce all the players. I was also too much of a perfectionist about it and wanted everything to look a certain way. Now I kinda just wanna vomit up ideas and allow people to ask about them whether to me or to characters if one feels so inclined.
