My Top 8 Summer Beauty Essentials
1) Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, £19.50, Debenhams.com
I’ve been loyal to Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ mascara for many years, but this is just a game-changer for me. My lashes are pretty non-existent without mascara but Roller Lash gives them a beautiful curl that lasts all day.
2) Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser, £34.00, Space NK
This is a favourite amongst beauty bloggers and for good reason – it gives skin a natural, flawless finish without feeling too cakey. I like to apply it with my fingers but a foundation brush would provide a heavier coverage.
3) Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, £38.00, FeelUnique.com
I’ve long used micellar water to remove my make-up, but now I prefer to double-cleanse with a cleansing balm or oil. This Emma Hardie balm makes removing my make-up a dream – I actually look forward to using it at the end of the day as it makes me feel like I’m in a spa!
4) Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Light, £25.50, Smashbox.com
I often forget to apply primer when I’m in a rush, but it really does make such a difference to the longevity of my make-up when I do. Smashbox is the pioneer in primers, and this oil-free version is perfect for oily and blemish-prone skin types as it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.
5) St Tropez Express Self Tan, £33.00, Boots.com
This has made my life SO much easier! I simply apply it an hour or two before I go out and then shower it off – it leaves the most beautiful, golden tan. It looks really natural after an hour but you could leave it on for two or three hours for a deeper tan. It’s pretty fool-proof and it actually really works.
6) Liz Earle Radiant Glow Bronzer, £19.50, LizEarle.com
I wear a facial SPF pretty religiously so my face very rarely tans except when I’m on holiday, so I use make-up to give me a golden glow. I use a big, fluffy bronzing brush and apply this to my temples, cheekbones and bridge of the nose – basically where the sun hits. I LOVE it.
7) Urban Decay Ink For Eyes, £15.50, House of Fraser
I’ve tested an abundance of liquid eyeliners over the years and I always come back to this one. It’s a felt tip nib, so really easy to use, and the liquid liner lasts all day. I’d repurchase this in an instant.
8) Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Riviera, £23.00, Space NK
I am pretty damn obsessed with orange lip colours at the moment and this liquid lipstick from Hourglass is definitely one of my favourites. It’s a bold, matte shade that instantly brightens up a summer beauty look.
