My latest book purchase. I really like the old tradition of telling ghost stories in winter and at Christmas so I had to get this!

Autumn walks today 🍂🧣☕️
I’ve just finished Frankenstein for the second time, the first time I read it was for my English literature A Level 3 years ago so I thought it time to revisit it.
I loved Shelley’s descriptions of nature. She writes about the mountains, the woods and the Scottish island with such vivid words that is is easy to understand how nature is so influential to Victor.
The creature is such a complex character and I really enjoyed the insights Shelley gave into his thoughts. His desire to learn and be accepted into human communities makes him much more nuanced than his portrayal in popular culture.

“Books, for me, are a home. Books don’t make a home - they are one, in the sense that just as you do with a door, you open a book, and you go inside. Inside there is a different kind of time and space. There is warmth there too - a hearth. I sit down with a book and I am warm.”
— Jeanette Winterson
Nothing is funnier to me than Mr Darcy telling his best friend not to propose to the girl he loves bc 1. Her family are unsuitable and 2. She doesn't truly like him enough to marry... only to then himself propose to a woman who is 1. From the exact same family and 2. Has done nothing but roast him since they met
