Hi guys! been a bit quiet on here haven't I?

Wanted to post an update on the Charlotte tarantola top pattern and release date - unfortunately i ended up having to move house right in the middle of February. As you might expect it took a long time to get all that chaos sorted and finally settle in - that combined with my PhD workload and all the little distractions of life has put me a bit behind schedule on the pattern release.

Pricing: I intend to make this available completely for free to anyone who wants it (but I have added a tip jar (buy me a coffee) to my linktree). As a postgraduate student my stipend covers all the base necessities but I don't often have much left for nice stuff (like more yarn :P) so while completely optional any donations would be very humbly appreciated.

For people interested in pattern testing: First of all holy moly & thankyou for all the interest! I have a small group of very very early draft testers, which is all i need for now. For those of you interested in trying out the pattern please keep an ear out over the next few months as I'm now back to actively working on this pattern :D

I'm currently working on a plus size version of the top to figure out how to scale the lace shaping upwards. Once this prototype is complete and I've written up the pattern with scaling instructions I will put out a call for more testers prior to publishing the pattern in full.

I crocheted the Project Hail Mary earth lava hacky sack! I used a pattern by Purlsandtopknots on YouTube, and it was super easy to follow!

Apologies to those who are waiting for the finished piece from this post. I had to put it aside for a moment to focus on creating gifts for my loved ones' birthdays that are coming up. So instead of the end result of the previous project, here is another work in progress - it's going to be a space-themed wall hanging! My boyfriend's workspace and taste are very celestial, and we both love stargazing and moon worship. I will publish the finished version as well once it's displayed ✨🌙

a doily of great diving beetle (Dytiscus marginalis)

you can found it in Europe and northern Asia in ponds. it's really big and has yellow edging - it's named after them in my language. i've never seen it but i was really interested in aquatic beetles some time ago. I've only seen Hydrophilus a couple years ago, and I loved it. its name in polish is really beautiful, it's 'kałużnica', which can be translate to puddle lady, or something like this

As a further update - I unfortunately need to undergo surgery on my right wrist in a few weeks. This is unrelated to crochet work and has more to do with the very intensive laboratory work I do as part of my job.

The pain and mobility reduction is slowing me down right now, as will surgical recovery after I get things fixed up. I'm still working on the pattern as much as I can, but have to conserve my movement a lot to make sure I can still complete time sensitive experiments.

That being said, I can't wait to put a pattern out for everyone sometime in the next few months :)
