HERE COMES BANKARA-SAN
This is the one shot for the one-shot project I wrote about last volume. Anyhow, when I decided I wanted to do a bancho story, I thought that bancho really don't sit well with young people. It's the same feeling people get from monsters out of fairy tales for some. But that made me all the more in a hurry to get immersed in giving Bancho's, Yankii's and Onyanko's a fantasy-style treatment, so I made this kind of totally exposed idiot manga. The schedule was hell, but when I was drawing it I was having fun and in high spirits, so the plan expanded and ended up with an incredible amount of information in it. I thought I would die before I got it all put together. With the whole amount of information, the one-shot would've been around 100 pages and really hard to read. Please try reading it 3 times, though I'm late in writing the afterword, too.

Sorachi: I prefer Oonishi voicing Konishi. Saitou: No way, the atmosphere will freeze. He shows up in the entire episode. Didn’t you say it’s best not to have outsiders after you visited the recording studio? Sorachi: What did you say?!
Saitou: When did he appear? Oonishi: In episode 3. “I want to become a cheesebun…” or something.

--Gintama Vol. 38
Thank you for buying Gintama Volume 38. This is pretty late from me, but the Gintama anime is restarting in April. [NOTE: this was published in 2011, so he's referring to season 5 of the anime that started that year. -ed.] This is also in large part thanks to everyone's support. Anyhow, you may think that ever since the anime ended it was already decided it was gonna re-start from the production side, but it actually wasn't. It seems that everyone certainly was in the mood of doing their best to try to get it to restart. Seeing what the consensus was, I said things like "With everyone's help, we'll get it restarted!" and stuff but me and my editor just had the instrumental remarks of it being a done deal. Some supervisor had "it's finished business~" or maybe "it's useless at this point~" stuck onto the front of his name. Well, we kept moving forward, and I said stuff like "it'll be okay without you“ and “what's important is the Jump brand~" and such. But both of us neither truly knew if we'd be a "source of revenue~" for each other. There wasn't a ton of stock built up in the original manga yet so you could hear a lot of anxious voices saying things like "is this gonna be okay" and "isn't it just gonna stop again really soon right after it starts?" but it's all right. The heads would eliminate that kind of crappy anime before the stock would run out. Of course, I dunno when the original manga is gonna get eliminated so I can't make any promises to quell those fears forever. But I can promise this. No matter when they're eliminated, the manga and anime will continue like they always have, pitching without regrets. And if the time comes where we go down in a blaze of dirty fireworks, please say this, "It's the anime's fault. The manga was going great, so please restart it okay".

In every chapter of the manga, it seems like it ends at just the right spot, but when you’re drawing do you ever find you have too many or not enough pages? And how do you deal with those sorts of situations? I very rarely have too many pages, but not having enough pages for the whole story happens all the time. In those cases I make the panels smaller and usually get it worked out. But when that still doesn’t do it, I go back to earlier pages and take panels out or take out whole pages. It kinda gets like a puzzle. It gets the most annoying with one-shots. Kochikame is a monster.

It's for sun protection. When their umbrellas alone aren't reliable, Yato will wrap themselves in that to cover their skin. Umibozu did this when he first appeared, too.

A dog's stress. His upbringing. His environment. I can think of various causes, but a dog cleaning up right after he poops? That's basic. To prevent further stress from accumulating, you must take him out for a daily walk. It's good to let him get it over with there since he poops regularly. Please drill the idea of "Walk = Poop" into your dog. Of course, it's useless if you don't mind your manners and dispose of the poop properly. If these don't work, please try consulting a veterinarian. ......or rather, since when was I ready for a pet consultation corner?
