Basics of Witchcraft
Sources
How to find reliable sources and knowledge! Some tips and tricks !
1. When researching online use terms like “magick” and “witchcraft” or “the craft” not just “magic”
2. Always cross reference, factual information will be shared multiple times by different people
3. Check authors, are they actually witches? How long have they been practicing? Are they apart of your religion/belief group?
4. Trust your intuition and be realistic just because someone is saying a spell works in 5 minutes doesn’t mean it will
5. When buying books read into the authors about me, where dotheir beliefs stem from? What practice are they apart of? etc.
6. Be mindful of where your information is being sourced, Wikipedia? Wiccapedia? Reddit? .com sites? .edu sites? Take everything with a grain of salt
Basics of Witchcraft
Materials
products and items are constantly being advertised and pushed down the throats of those just discovering witchcraft and starting witchcraft,
here are the actual materials you will need
NOTE: you don't NEED anything these are simply ones that more commonly used in rituals, spells and general practices
salt - used for protection and cleansing purposes, easily sourced and retally available
pepper / chilis: commonly used for protection and for other various purposes in spells, rituals etc.
incense - used for cleansing purposes, offerings to gods/deities
clear quartz - substitution for any crystal, intentions determine use
bay leafs - common use in spell jars, offerings, and can be used in divination
sugar - commonly associated with love, useful in rituals and offerings depending on the deity
necklaces/pendants: pendulums are usually crystals on chains but any type of pendant on chains/strings can be used
a majority of herbs, crystals and candle colors have substitutions or alternatives that can be used in a majority of settings. Before deciding against a spell all together make sure to do research a don't let lack prevent abundance!
