I don't think most of us understand exactly the extent of devastation in Gaza. In the first month of this genocide alone, the Gaza Strip has been hit with firepower the equivalent of 2 nuclear bombs! Between October 2023 and April 2024, Israel has dropped approximately 70,000 tons of bombs on Gaza, surpassing the bombing of Dresden, Hamburg, and London combined during World War II! And Gaza is only 360km² big, which is 4 times smaller than London and 2.5 times smaller than Hiroshima. But Gaza has a very high population density of 5,500 people per square kilometer, which is higher than that of most cites, including London!
Israel has not stopped or slowed its attack on Gaza. Just 2 days ago, Israel has killed at least 36 people during an airstrike on Nuseirat Refugee camp. The building targeted is a residential block housing children, families and displaced people.
My friend Mahmoud (@mahmoudfamily7) has 17 family members in Nuseirat right now, including 10 children. In addition to all the attacks, they cannot buy basic necessities as items have risen to 8000% more expensive than usual, or even more! Ahmed ( @mazen-fmaily ) has been fundraising to help his elderly father. His dad faces a variety of health complications, including hepatitis, kidney disease, and heart issues. He relies on machines and ventilators for life support and Ahmed has to keep up with medical payments in order to keep him connected. On top of life support, Ahmed's father also needs daily dialysis treatments and oxygen. Serious emergencies sometimes arise where his father needs surgery.
Now Ahmed is also facing medical costs of his own. He was shot at while trying to collect aid for him and his father. He needs surgery to reconnect the tendons in his leg, or else it will have to be amputated. Three Causes of His Injury and the Danger for Children:
1. Unstable living conditions â Children play among rubble, broken glass, and sharp debris because there is nowhere safe for them.
2. Lack of medical care â Injuries, even small ones, become life-threatening because hospitals are overwhelmed, and medicine is scarce.
3. Constant fear and trauma â Kids like Qais live under constant stress, making them vulnerable to accidents, infections, and slow healing.

the ship has already been bombed twice during previous attempts at approaching gaza.
my only hope is that if we make enough noise this time, israel won't dare bomb it with such prominent international figures on board, from fear of making them martyrs and turning the rest of the world against them.
