every aroace person alive upon watching jaiden animation’s new video
[ID: At the top, text reads “Someone: *shows a picture of a conventionally attractive person*”. The next line reads “Someone: aren’t they so hot?!”. The next line reads “Me, an aroace:”. Below is a picture of a pirate, saying “Well yes, but actually no”. End ID]
The ace flag was literally among the most collaborative effects to make a community symbol, I’ve at least personally ever seen, and used all the existing asexual symbolism that came before it. (The flag itself was made in 2010. )
The biggest icons of that time were largely a shades of grey gradient which drives me up the wall when people think asexuality has to be an absolute. (Or just make up complete bs that can be easily fact checked) Also given how threaded internet forums work and how google searches the internet it’s all really easy to check and even sometimes learn new stuff.
For example here’s a super cool thing about it I never heard in my 7 years of being here what feels like 24/7/365. It is believed purple was added by AVEN in 2001 as a secondary color to that prism based diversity symbolism. Specially choosing the amethyst crystal shade for it’s relationship to the Greek story that mentions a nymph named Amethyst (or Amethystas). In it, Dionysus was hitting on her and she wasn’t into it so Artemis helped protect the nymph by turning her into white quartz. Dionysus then showed he made a mistake and poured wine over the amethyst stone, staining it purple.
Here’s some art from a different version of the story where Dio was less hitting on her, and more accidentally on purpose annoyed with her and risked a mortals life via the threat of tiger. And then Dio cries wine in remorse turning the stone purple.
As you can see above a white to purple gradient. Whatever the original version of the story the heart of it is: Artemis saved someone from harm and the person who caused the harm realized their grave mistake.
Some even take the story further, saying that in ancient Greece, wine goblets were carved out of Amethyst to protect royalty from getting too drunk and making fools of themselves in the same way Dionysus had before them.
Which not only makes my pagan heart happy to know forever now know the ace shade of purple has Artemis meaning, but also that shade of purple meant that people were reminded to ‘not make the mistakes of the past and make fools of ourselves that harm people who aren’t interested.’

Me: Hey, anyone want an aro/ace/aroace Elsa wallpaper?!
Originally I was just going to edit an Elsa wallpaper for myself, but then I realized other people might want it, too, and there’s also an appalling lack of aro/ace/aroace Elsa content, so here you go!
Aromantic, asexual, three versions of aroace, demiromantic, demisexual, grayromantic, and graysexual. The last aroace edit uses the aroace flag made by @aroaesflags . The poster I edited is from Disney, I believe?
If anyone wants other flags/flag combos I’ll be happy to make them! Just message me or reblog/reply on the post.
Happy Valentines day everyone! I decided to make a comic about something I’ve wanted to talk about for a long time, which was my relationship with romance while being on the Aromantic spectrum. Sorry for the length, enjoy!
psst… you should check out the new aromantic spectrum awareness week website

in case you haven’t looked yet, here’s a sneak peak!

I just found out myself and thought others here might be interested to know that Simone de Rochefort, personality and content creator for Polygon, is out as Aromantic/AroBi/ace-spec (all her words) she mentions it occasionally on her twitter (@ doomquasar) and even discusses being aro and still enjoying romantic plot lines in video games in the Polygon show ep “A/ S/ L?” I think it’s neat she’s using her platform to bring light to a-spec topics in a normalizing and casual way!
Oh fucking dope I don’t know if she is at all, but in my head she’s the boss over there.
A+ Boss Lady
[id: 3 tweets by Simone de Rochefort (verified) 1: Man, I know I tweeted this the other day but it’s so fucking good and I love reading about crushes in a context where they’re not framed as romantic thenewinquiry.com/crushed/ 2: as an aromantic person who gets crushes (which are the worst!!!!!) it’s…. COOL 3: *drapes myself on a velvet settee* not to make this MORE complicated but what if we acknowledge that aromantic and asexual aren’t the same / end id]
shout out to ace and aro kids who are constantly bombarded with the opinion that sex and romantic love are directly connected to living a happy life.
Y’all are just reblogging this at the speed of sound tonight
Since it’s almost valentines day, and this message is about to get hammered in even more, reblogging this again.
To the Aromantic, Asexual and Agender community:
You are the Duracell bunny. Doesn’t matter whether you’re an A, double A or triple A battery, you last 5 times longer than any other brand.
The A does not stand for Ally.
Stay safe y’all. :)
For the fourth day of Ace Week, we are highlighting creators who are aces of color. Check out their work!
If anyone is looking for a book about being asexual and on the a romantic spectrum that isn’t contemporary I would 100% recommend

people are always telling introverts to be more talkative and leave their comfort zones, yet nobody tells extroverts to shut up to make the zone comfortable.
