many people in the tags of this post seem to believe i am talking about ttrpgs, or LARPing, or other some such. a great number of other people are proclaiming that they would like to do this, but they have no time for an investment of this sort, or that it’s embarrassing, or that they don’t know how to go about it. i think these two things are at least somewhat interconnected, so let me speak plainly: while there’s nothing wrong with complex, in-depth roleplay and LARPing and ttrpgs, i am talking about extremely bare bones text message roleplaying.
dont get wrapped up in making it complex, or abiding by a set of rules, or making it any more complicated than it needs to be. find a buddy, find or make some characters, and go back and forth sending messages to each other in character. draw it if you want. there’s discord bots that let you set up little fake accounts so you can be more “authentic” with it, but you don’t need those if you don’t want to. find a forum to do it on, or make one. do it with your friends, or take the plunge and join a server full of strangers to make new friends. write one-sentence replies with poor grammar. use asterisk roleplaying like this *puts my hands on your shoulders* if you need to. make it simple. make it easy. make it fun. if it’s not fun, put it down and try again or find something else, but at least give it a try. i’m dead serious here. remember how to play again and experience that kind of wonder that you haven’t in years. it will help you overcome the shame that has been hammered into you. it’s good for you. i promise

But I also know that this isn't something that I alone experience and feel. I know that a bunch of people feel this exact way and I would never treat them the way I treat myself.
I should be kinder to and more considerate of myself.

Maze Manor - Teaser
Yesterday I accidentally started a new project because an awesome story concept popped into my head!

What's Maze Manor about?

Maze Manor, aka Mysteries of Maze Manor, starts off by following four adolescents(Karpos, Maivy, Liem, and Tai) in an uncomfortable car ride. The mood is tense and suddenly the car breaks down. The four end up venturing down a private drive to find an old manor, hoping to find a phone or someone to help with the car(no cell service of course). They find the front door unlocked with no one coming when they call. Lights are on and the fire is lit, so surely someone will find them eventually. They end up sleeping in the main entry hall and when they wake the front door is gone entirely and suddenly doors that had been locked are now open.
The four move through the manor, which they soon find is shifting and changing around them, looking for a way out while also working through their own various personal and life issues(they each have plenty). Along the way, they'll meet Vesper, a teen who's been living in the manor for a few years and is happy to stay as well as help them find a way out. They'll also meet Arceli, an adult who has spent half her life in the manor, seeking a way out, cursing the manor as her prison.
There are also quite a few people/creatures that aren't exactly human that they meet, help, and befriend along the way as they unravel the mysteries of the manor and how it works.

I made profile pictures for my OCs from one of my stories, Mysteries of Maze Manor, in time for art fight! Hoping one day I'll get around to making this story a graphic novel because it's inspired by a bunch of awesome cartoons like Infinity Train, The Owl House, and Steven Universe.
