Coworker (60) was cursing under his breath to himself trying to get something to work on his computer. Other coworker (25) asked, "Are you winning son?" which went unanswered for quite a while, until finally coworker (60) very quietly went "..........'son'?"
The other week the topic of memes came up, and coworker (60) went "You know I saw a meme recently which I did not understand." He spent a while searching around on his phone to find what he saw and eventually managed to produce this image
Yes we explained Loss.jpeg to him
At lunch, coworker (23) was talking about all the ingredient combinatorics possible at the local lunch bowl place, which seemed as good a time as any to tell him about None Pizza Left Beef (tradition must be kept alive). I watched him pull out his phone and check in real time that you can in fact order None Pizza Left Beef from Dominoes. At which point he stared at his phone for a long and contemplative moment and went, "I really want to order this."
Also we're all learning here. The other week coworker (23) explained the concept of "lowkenuinely" and "lowkirkenuinely" to me. Never fucking heard of that shit in my life but the kids are up to something.

once you learn enough about evolutionary biology you start seeing ghosts everywhere
after the end cretaceous extinction event, basically all megafaunal niches were suddenly empty; and most got filled in some way. proboscideans instead of sauropods, carnivorans instead of theropods, ungulates instead of ceratopsians and hadrosaurs etc...
but the thing is: only *most* got filled to some extent
not all
because there used to be dragons
and now their niche is just *empty*
it's like i can feel the gap they left, in everything from open grassland ecosystems to isolated islands; the world we know is shaped by the absence of a truly big flying predator
no bird could ever fill their niche, because of plain and simple anatomical constraints
because they cannot use their wings to jump
birds could never be azdarchids
they could never be dragons
there are no more dragons
but there used to be
there used to be...
Why are there just blobs of fake rubber meat that a bunch of unrelated microbes can build in the dirt but they've only ever been found in china and can't be classified any further than "biological objects"
iâm so fucking pissed off at this picture
wwhat the fuckâŠ.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS
oh my god thank you for the second perspective, it honestly makes me feel way less stressed about this image, you have no idea
Hereâs the second image again since it somehow disappeared in reblogs
BLOODWYRM - draco hemocracia
Of all the beasts chronicled within these pages, the Bloodwyrm is one that I hope to never again meet face to face. Ghost of sinew, wretchspawn, the living teeth - the wyrm has taken many names in the past, each tied to a story warning you about their tricks, and their endless hunger. Bloodwyrms hail from living Marrun, where the floor is calloused, cracked and bleeding, forests of muscle pulse up from the ground and web fine canopies of glistening red and white across the breathing hills. In this environment, the wyrm thrives. Elementals of flesh, they can use their magic to shift form at will, growing limbs, wings, teeth, anything it might need in the moment. This mastery of evolution allows the Bloodwyrm to fill every niche at once - by pure definition, this is the apex predator. Its vast intelligence allows it to outmanoeuvre and trick even the most skilled of adventurers, luring compassionate wanderers to their doom. It is a master of mimicry, able to shift its many vocal chords to perfectly copy the sounds of previous meals, pleading for help just out of sight. Using its shifting abilities, it can create a somewhat convincing lure - usually at the end of its tail - that might resemble a lost child, a crying baby, or a wounded companion. Only when you are too close do you realise all the things wrong with the silhouette, the fresh, sore skin, the one too many eyes⊠This mastery of fleshmancy leaves the Bloodwyrm with an enormous appetite. Lucky for it, the land of Marrun is ever breeding, an endless spawn of new creatures that slink from hidden damp burrows and sweat drenched folds of the earth. The Bloodwyrm has no lack of potential prey - they seem to mostly engage with travellers for the enrichment they can provide, and for the joy of the fight. By shifting their body around where a blade might slice or an arrow pierce, the wyrm - if quick enough - can easily avoid almost any physical attack you might throw at it. A sparring wyrm has been compared to a maelstrom of wet meat twisting and slinking about its rival, never in one spot. Like trying to catch a wave between your fingers, the fluid manner of the creature is one of its deadliest attributes. One must assume that like the true dragons of old, they are a manifestation of the magic itself, taken form to walk among us - be that on scaled talons or grasping, familiar hands. If you encounter one of these wyrms upon your journeys, I pray that it has not already spotted you. Like a storm on the horizon, this is an uncaring force of nature, ever hungry, ever growing, and already eying the meat on your bones.

if you like the vibe of this guy, I wrote a story way back in 2021 and in this section a character fights a Bloodwyrm - thereâs also a lot more description of the land itself there. I hope u like it :}

Love the designs and how well the coloration works, honestly, but the funniest thing here is that a fluffy house cat transmogrifies into a fucking lion if you show it the right rock. Amazing.

I collaborated with the Human Artistry Project to make this strip alongside other web cartoonists to make the point that âStealing isnât Innovationâ when it comes to A.I. usage. It seems to be doing numbers on instagram and elsewhere, so you may also read it here, tumblr.
May the discourse that ensues be long and unhelpful.

I SAW THIS IN THE PORTLAND ART MUSEUM! ITS HUGE!
it shimmers like no gemstones i've ever seen: green as malachite and emerald but shot through with opal, gold, copper. photographs can't do it justice because of how it shines, as well as the way the actual material elements have their own dimensions. you can lean in and study all the fine lines of the circuits or step back and admire how the rearranged whole forms new patterns. it's one of the most beautiful creations i've ever seen.
So I do 3D modeling and printing as a hobby, and a few weeks ago I designed wheel guards meant to prevent office chairs from running over cables and clothes... or your pet's tail.
I got the idea from cowcatchers old locomotives used to have.
Anyways, yesterday I uploaded the model to Thingiverse, and just hours after uploading it, the Community Relationship Manager of the whole website left a comment suggesting I enter the model into a competition that's currently being held on the site.
So I did... and now it's in third place not even a day later. First place is $500, but the competition still has a month to go.
Then the Community Manager contacted me again, telling me they want to feature my model in an upcoming design promotion.
Just, what is happening? I mostly made this thing for myself in, like, an hour, and now it's suddenly super popular? This is all a little bit overwhelming đ”âđ«
Other models I worked on for weeks didn't get nearly as popular. I swear, it's impossible to predict what people will like.
Anyways, if you want to print the wheel guards yourself, you can get the model here or here.
I also made a quiet version you can stick furniture felt pads on.
People love simple, extremely practical things. I hope you win!
