Hihi! I’m Em! Welcome to my blog where I yap about witchcraft lmao. Here’s some things to get to know me:

🌲I’m 23! September Virgo, baby, and I’m a Scorpio moon and Sag rising!

🌲I’m genderfluid, she/they/he, currently using he/him!

🌲I’ve been practicing witchcraft for almost a decade now; I started around when I was 13/14, and I’ve never looked back!

🌲I’m mainly a Hellenic Polytheist, and my main deities are Hestia, Hekate, and Hermes, and I’m closest with Hekate.

🌲I also practice both Appalachian (I have family ties in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky) and Italian (Sicilian!!!) folk magic.

🌲I work with animal spirits as well, specifically a deer and two alligators.

🌲I’m a southern gal! I was born and raised in Florida, and I’m passionate about making my flawed but beautiful state a better place for the least among us.

🌲I practice tarot, and maybe one day I’ll offer readings and spellwork haha.

It’s wild to me that magic is so like,,,,looked down on today. Because for literally all of human history, we have believed in it. And magic has changed in accordance with the discoveries we make. But in the modern day it’s dismissed so casually as fiction or for children.

Bitch???? Your ancestors may not have been educated in a school but they KNEW shit. Practical, caring-for-their-community shit. And sure, maybe they did things that seem silly or stupid to the modern eye, like hanging toad parts around a sick person’s neck or curing the evil eye. But they did it out of LOVE. Because they understood that in this world, all we have is each other. And if we want to keep it that way, we need to care for each other and our world.

Magic has kept our world RUNNING for forever. Fiction my ass.

i wish somebody would have told me that you don’t need to use candles in your practice.

i remember first getting into witchcraft and believing candles are the staple of the whole practice - that without them you can’t be a good practitioner.

oh how wrong i was.

yes candles are popular in witchcraft, but they’re also a preference - you decide if you want to use them or not, it's not a must have criteria to be a good practitioner.

there are so many different things you can do that doesn’t include candle work, such as:

-> making enchanted oils.

-> making herb bags.

-> learn/practicing tarot.

-> meditating to help communicate with your deities

-> making sigils.

-> making simmer pots.

-> making ritual baths.

and probably many more! so don't feel like you need to include candles to be a good practitioner, do what's right for you and your circumstances <3

Ancestor work is a funny thing. Sometimes it’s healing. Sometimes it’s a pain in the ass. It’s reduced me to tears and made me laugh hysterically.

And then sometimes your ancestor shares a spell with you so diabolically clever you’re left utterly gobsmacked.

Shout out to my Italian however-many-greats Nonna, who upon hearing that I want to curse the living fuck out of 🧊, shared with a me a spell that is both deceptively simple and utterly devastating. I was told to not share it, which I will abide by, but as someone who knows the context of the folk magic it’s based in, this thing is like giving someone a bouquet of toxic flowers. Looks innocuous or even beneficial, will fuck you up because you’re caught unawares.

I feel like I've made my position clear on where I stand in the past, but just to revisit in light of recent events:

✨Altar Update✨

This is my altar to my ancestors and animal spirits, and I finally got a candle for it! It sort of does double duty as a candle for my ancestors and Mother Mary, because this table is tiny haha. But I love it! Hail Mary and my beloved ancestors!
