San releases first solo album “Is This Love?″

Alien’s San has dropped his first full-length solo album! San has previously released two solo digital singles through Dimensions Portal, “Eat” and “Yanghwa BRDG”, but this album marks his spot as the first Alien member to make a solo debut since their debut in 2012.

Is This Love? is a twelve track album. Most of the album takes on an exploration of various R&B styles, from more traditional takes to more modern interpretations of the genre, and makes use of both San’s vocal prowess and his rapping ability. The track list features collaborations with several other idols: CHARM’s Sirius on “Stay Up”, Lipstick’s Sowon on “R.O.D”, and Silhouette’s Youngjoo on “Without You”. San has lyric and production credits on seven of the album’s twelve tracks. Silhouette’s Youngjoo is listed as one of the composers for “Who, You?”, while Knight’s Taeyong has lyrics, music, and production credits on “Betcha” and “Ice Queen”, as well a working with San on the lyrics and production of “UN Village” and “Stay Up”.

The album’s promoted single will be “UN Village”, a slick and sophisticated alt-R&B track. The song will be promoted for two weeks on music shows, and b-side track “Think About You” will be staged solo for the first week of his music show promotions.

when they woke up the next morning, kami was happy that it was pretty late. still, her body couldn’t shake the feeling of waking up so early completely. she was still up an hour or two before sowon but that gave her time to plan everything. as much as they could get in with the few extra hours they had. by the time sowon did wake up, kami was dressed and the food at arrived. “morning~” she sing-songed and sat down on the bed, letting her body relax. 

“we should still be all packed and ready but we have a more hours and i finally want to go explore.” going places in between breaks had been fun but the time was short. most of the days had been filled with filming and work related things, most of today would be pure freedom. “my manager said we can go anywhere within walking distance but nothing more than that. just in case they manage to work out an earlier flight.” 

sowon stretched from her spot in the bed, letting her body tense and then relax. she smiled up at kami, despite the instinct to block the sun’s own bright beams. “morning! i didn’t mean to sleep so long.” she didn’t know exactly how late it was, but if kami had had time to dress and look so awake, she guessed she’d been up a while. 

“that sounds so fun!” she exclaimed, genuinely excited. she’d had a good time the past couple of days with kami, grateful to have been invited along. it was nice to have a friend, especially one who wanted her around in such a capacity. “i’ll get dressed and eat right away. did you have anything in particular you wanted to do, or are we going off to see the wizard?” she questioned, trading the warmth of the blankets for the comparative chill of the room. she had no preference, frankly - Germany wasn’t exactly somewhere she was able to visit often.

on a professional level, she’s glad to be working but she’s still worried people, especially fans, are going to see through the vocal line’s best attempts and decide they need goeun after all. on top of this, seri and byungchul’s wedding gets her thinking about her own future, what she’d always thought it might look like versus what she sees it being now.

on a more personal level, later in the month, her mother contacts her for the first time since she was sixteen. she finds out after much nervousness (and, frankly, a strong hope it was because she was missed) that her eldest brother (jungwon) has two daughters, one two years old (bora) and the other born in november (sora). their mother fled for greener pastures, leaving jungwon searching for options. she’s caught up on various happenings within her family and meets her nieces.

her favourite person at her door - what more could she want? she’s taken most of today off from her personal schedules, save for the couple of hours she spent at the shared home early this morning, just for her birthday. “ah, for me? you shouldn’t have!” no, she absolutely should have. it’s obvious minhee is joking as she gratefully takes the boxes from sowon, waving her into her apartment. she points over at her sofa. “thank you, thank you! go sit down!”

minhee plops down on an armchair, and opens the second box first. “they’re so cute! i love them!” she cries, quickly taking out the succulent candles one by one, arranging them in an eclectic fashion on the coffee table. with a clap of her hands, minhee goes for the second box. now, she’s speechless, holding the tube and the bullet up close to her face, reading the names of them closely. “are these custom shades? bingle bangle and … jelly! sowonnie! you shouldn’t have, i mean it this time!” a hand comes up to her bare lips and she smiles. “i can wear one of them today … and are these socks? yay!” 

she sits back in the chair, holding her new socks and lip products on her chest, beaming wide. “lotte world sounds fun! i don’t have any plans until this evening so lotte world is perfect! i haven’t gone on rollercoasters in years, whenever we go we’re always filming something and bc won’t let me throw up in front of the cameras.” she pouts. “but it’s my birthday, i’ll vomit if i want to.”

sowon grinned, slipping off her shoes and fleeing to the sofa. she’s excited - it’s minhee day, after all! she considered herself a fairly good bandmate, but goeun’s departure put into perspective that was wasn’t necessarily as close to her members as she’s like to think. minhee was an exception, though - they were the maknae line, they’d been in lip gloss together, and they’d bonded. it was nice, not to question their friendship. it was easy with minhee.

she crossed one leg over the other, watching minhee eagerly. she was excited by the reaction to the candles, but she was eager for the reaction to the makeup - it was what she’d put the most thought and effort into, after all. she wasn’t disappointed. minhee’s delight only increased her own, smiling widely. “ they are! i thought you’d get a kick out of it. ” a burst of laughter left her lips at the sock comment. 

“ i hope you won’t vomit, but i’ll hold your hair back. ” she giggled, almost uncharacteristically childish in her joy. “ we’ll do whatever you want! and i rented a car so we can go any time! ” she hadn’t really had use for a car of her own, all things considered, but she was happy to drive as needed.

there was something sad about kissing a decade goodbye. she wasn’t exactly the most career-minded idol, but it was hard not to look back and wonder if lipstick had done enough. minhee and hyeju had done well, but had they, as a group, done enough to justify their continued survival? or were they just coasting on their legacy - on goeun’s legacy?  it was nice, though, to be here for minhee. she was happy she’d gotten to participate in the show. her sweetest bandmate deserved the opportunity. 

her concentration on the girl across the room was broken as she noticed a younger labelmate - one of the charm boys, one of the sweeter ones - approaching her. “ pyung, hi. it’s lovely! i’ll admit, i wish we were allowed more than just the one glass, but the house looks great! ” she greeted with a warm smile. “ how are you doing? have the holidays treated you well? ”

What activities, foods, smells, etc. do you most associate with winter?

“ Oh, hot chocolate! Tea, too, but I always drink that... Peppermint as well! As far as activities go, I’d say shoveling the driveway. I know it’s not exactly fun, but I used to do it for my neighbors when I’d do mine, and they were always really grateful. ”

If you were to participate in a future season of Shared Home, what would you want to do with your house mates during your time on the show?

“ I think i’d want to do things like charity work! maybe a blood drive or helping to build houses, or even just making blankets to donate to the poor. ”

How was the New Year’s party?

“ I had a lot of fun! It seems like the housemates got really close. It’s nice that Minhee got close to her castmates. It was good to get to see some friends I haven’t really gotten a chance to recently, as well! ”

‘don’t do it. just keep dreaming, buddy.’ was the constant response from everyone when Sanghyun expressed his admiration to the certain individual. it had been years since he watched her for the first time on the screen, the girl with the brightest smile and the voice that stole his attention. the memory was still vivid to him that Sanghyun weirded himself out for acting like a teenage boy when her name was ringing in the air. He made a promise to himself that he would strike a conversation if there was a chance for him to meet Sowon of Lipstick, but fate had never brought them together to meet in one place. at least, not more than just a formal greeting.

until he was standing at the doorway, solely to fulfill an appointment he made for a friend to attend a little barbeque party. the figure he often saw on TV suddenly came out in a solid form, smiling at him. Sanghyun was stunned for a moment, he couldn’t process the sudden burst of teenage delusion, turning into a bliss. 

“yeah–yeah, sure. Um, I mean, okay,” he stuttered, following to where a stack of coats sprawled all over the couch. shit shit shit, what should I do?! no, be cool, dude. it’s fine. it’s just her. it’s her. Sanghyun turned around and rubbed his hands together. “Is there anything I could do to help?” he asked her, while his friends were walking back and forth to set the table for their dinner. There were many things he wanted to ask her, but Sanghyun held it back. It was a long night anyways. 

oh, and he seemed friendly! this would be fun. she’d have to make a note to have euijin add him to their groupchat, and maybe invite him to the lunar new year party they were planning (for two days after the fact, so no one would miss out on family for it). that reminded her, she’d have to pick up blank stationary for the moonhouse. 

she smiled at the offer of help - another set of hands was never a bad thing, despite her tendency to take over tasks from their hostess - including getting the door, evidently. “ if you’d be willing to help carry food out, it’d be great! i think hyunwoo got most of it, but between the two of us it couldn’t be more than a couple of trips. ” she led him to the kitchen, only a room away, and hummed a confused sort of sound. 

“ i guess she took a few out already. ” she noted, eyeing the platters of meat and vegetables on the table. “ anyway! if you take one, i’ll take the other two and you can open the door with your free hand? ” it wasn’t exactly a question, but she wasn’t the boss of him. she didn’t want to tell him what to do.

It’s have to be Catallena. It kicked off Lip Gloss, and while she’d never really had to want for lines, it was the first time she felt like she really shined.

+ Day Eight: Talk about your muse’s strengths and weaknesses as an idol. Feel free to discuss their own personal thoughts regarding these components. Think of qualities such as vocals, dancing, visuals, acting skills, and variety show skills, for example.

Sowon’s greatest strength is her vocals, easily, and they’re the only skill she’s never doubted. She’s also become relatively popular in the west for her visuals, and Korea is warming to them too, but she’s very insecure about the way she looks, especially her body. She’s not wild or funny enough to be a variety personality, preferring to play the straight man to someone else’s jokester or dreamy personality. She’s not an especially talented actress, but she never particularly saw that as a path for herself regardless, so she doesn’t much mind.

+ Day Nine: What is your muse’s fashion style? Talk about what kind of clothes they love to wear. To them, what is the essential thing to have in their closet? What is their favorite outfit?

Sowon likes comfortable but pretty clothing. Her style is slightly preppy, with a lot of sweaters and layers in the colder months, and she overall likes soft fabrics in muted tones. Her most essential item is a nice pair of socks. Her favorite outfit consists of a sweater, slacks, heels and accessories.
