Grace Rocky Save Stars
let this be your sign to just go watch the supergirl movie, please dont let a bunch of misogynistic bad reviews get the best of you
forgot i changed my layout and got flash banged by a bright pink background on my profile
Making this abundantly obvious.
ok. the hate for supergirl 2026 is already exhausting. sure, it didn’t reinvent the genre or anything, and as someone who loves the Woman of Tomorrow comic i had a few nitpicks, but really what did people expect? it was a good movie. it was solid. i had fun!!! and milly alcock was phenomenal as kara. man, there were some action sequences where i teared up a little, simply because she’s freaking COOL. seeing a character like that on the big screen means a lot to women and young girls. ngl it makes me sad to see people react this harshly (many having gone into the film assuming they wouldn’t enjoy it, mind you - if you’re looking for things to dislike, then guess what? you’re gonna find them!) and be so cynical about the future of the dcu. the movie had heart as well as humor, and overall i thought it did a great job introducing kara to the dcu.
I have more thoughts on Supergirl now I've had the time to digest it more
It was an enjoyable experience that's why it took me a bit of time to realise I took some issues with it
Watching films at the cinema I find is quite hard to analyse and take it all in so it's a slow process
I read the comic Woman of Tomorrow a few months back in preparation for this film and I loooved that comic, even though the ending confuses me a bit, the build up, the art, the emotions are all amazing and the GRIEF
Grief is such a big part of the comic and I feel of Supergirl's story and I just don't think it was touched on enough in the film - there were multiple instances where we almost got something but it just fizzled out into nothing
I really liked Milly I think she's great and I've high hopes for her in the future but truly this wasn't the best first show case, like don't do Woman of Tomorrow yanno, JGunn should have chosen another story
There were just several elements to this I didn't care for which is a damn shame really
i think shoving lobo in for seemingly no reason (to entice more people to go to see a woman led story) was a bit unneeded bc imo it felt like a lot of the focal points that should have been on kara and even on ruthye just weren’t and were brought back to ‘Hey! There’s this character again! You know, Lobo who is totally in this film, do you see how we keep bringing him back?’
this isn’t to say i didn’t like the film. i actually quite enjoyed it and although its not a faithful adaptation of the comic i still think they should have followed the story a bit more- the whole scenes of the various planets with a space pirate theme is what made me fall in love with the comic in the first place - kara’s grief was explored through that, travelling meeting other people who had experienced the same and slowly coming to terms with it herself albeit slowly and a bit rocky
i do understand tho that you can’t really cram 8 volumes of a comic into a 2 hour film so as far as it goes i think for casual film goers and people who don’t take themselves too seriously the film was enjoyable
do kinda wish they’d kept the original aesthetic bc the art in woman of tomorrow is gorgeous and i think that really could have shone
ITS SUPERGIRL DAY!!!!!!
Imagine Grace defined his name as the elegance definition of grace and Rocky spends years thinking how fucking ironic this clumsy leaky space blobs name is.
Until Grace slips out a sentence along the lines of "could you give me a little grace here" and Rocky immediately points out he used a word wrong so Grace has to explain that yeah, grace means elegance but it can also mean mercy sometimes too.
And Rocky has to suddenly reconcile that the clumsy leaky blob that saved his life twice, that almost certainly doomed himself to come back for him, name is Mercy.
Look out~ 😎
i’m so tempted to do red ghost roots and either need so much encouragement or reasons why it’s a bad idea

THISSSSSSS!!!!!!! curate your own internet experience. block them because they’re allergic to peanut butter, block them because they have what you don’t, block them because they dislike your favorite food, block them because you don’t like their layout, block them because you can.
blocking is NOT a personal attack against someone. it’s you curating your own internet experience and catering for your comfort, and you have every right to do that.
you, yes, you!!! you CANNOT tell other people to censor themselves for your own comfort and personal likings. you CANNOT tell them what they can or can’t post. you CANNOT tell them what they can or can’t write. you CANNOT tell them what they can or can’t draw. BUT you CAN block them for whatever reason.
that block button is offered to you for free. use. it.
bring back fandom ettiequte of learning how to curate your own feed instead of trying to control how everyone sees something trying to create a blanket internet that connects no one and is curated to a very bland taste is not the answer
small bat 🦇
rewatching thunderbolts and it’s still so funny to me that out of all the void shame rooms johns is just him being a shit father and husband
We've talked about Grace's rainbow symbolism in this scene, but I haven't seen anyone pointing out the detail of Stratt having a line of countries' flags behind her on her first appearance
