you know what i don’t see enough of? circus kid dick grayson critiquing the joker because he’s a bad clown. not like, bad, and also a clown. but bad at being a clown. i want to see dick grayson taking the existence of this horrible clown very personally as a matter of professional pride. he has known clowns, and you, sir, are no clown. the joker is an insult to the legacy of emmett kelly and this shall not stand.
@poodlemonkeyishere replied:
Does the Joker have an egg in the official clown headquarters?
…
the clown egg registry
i forgot about the clown egg registry
do you think they refuse because he’s not a real clown
like someone inquires about the joker and so they put out a press release to state that not only is he not registered with clowns international, they will not be accepting applications from the fucking joker, because he’s not even a clown and he doesn’t even wear makeup, you don’t get to register your regular-ass non-clown face
batman has to theoretically protect the fucking clown egg registry from the joker throwing a tantrum, but quite frankly he doesn’t have to do much because it’s the joker versus an army of real actual clowns defending the history of their noble profession
I REPEAT the best idea I ever had was the Batman having to DEFEND the JOKER from THE CLOWNS. Imagine The Joker, running pellmell down a parking garage as clowns crawl, dozens from every car, from the ventilation, from the sewer grates, each one calling “WHERE IS YOUR EGG”
This is the post I was thinking of but instead of the Joker it’s a clown version of Trump and Elon getting chased down by real clowns like YOU DONT EVEN HAVE AN EGG FAKER
You wanna know something I noticed but haven’t seen anyone talk about in “The Boy Wonder” by Juni Ba?
In the fourth issue of The Boy Wonder: The Demon’s Cradle we get a bit more of an in depth look at Talia Al Ghoul and I’d argue it’s one, if not the best, characterizations we’ve got of her in years.
Anyway, in two of the panels, we see Talia refer to Damian as “My heart,” but what I think most non-Arabic speakers won’t pick up on is that it’s an Arabic term of endearment.
My heart = “Albi" or “Qalbi" It literally translates to “My heart”
It’s such a quiet way of calling someone your life force. Talia is basically calling Damian the very thing that keeps her blood running, the thing that keeps her living, and arguably the only person she ever loved more than her father.
I also think that it’s very important to recognize that in “The Boy Wonder” when Talia is visited by a djinn he tells her that she will go through three trials in her life with the representation of a “cup”. However, I think it’s a very fair claim to make that the “cup” is the three most important people she loves, and trials of that love, that she will experience throughout her life.
All three are represented by the three most important men in her life: Her father, Bruce, and Damian. And throughout the issue we can see how each one of them represented the three trials throughout her life
“One will shackle it” – Ra’s Al Ghul shackled Talia’s heart to him and his ideologies/cause, which inadvertently shackled Talia to forever being the right hand of the Demon’s Head - whoever that may be - and never allowing her to actually become the head herself.
“One will dent it” – Bruce Wayne dented Talia’s heart when he became respected by Ra’s Al Ghul and wanted by him as well to become the successor and future Demon’s Head. Bruce also dented Talia’s “cup” when he rejected the position of becoming Ra’s successor as well as swearing to destroy what Ra’s and Talia created (The League of Assassins).
“One will mend it” – Damian Wayne mended Talia’s heart by essentially becoming the one thing she loved more than her father and his cause. Talia dedicated a portion of her “cup” (A portion of her life) to her father and his ideologies; the importance of both of those even trumped her love for Bruce, but when it came down to it, Talia still chose Damian above it all. Even against her father’s wishes.
She sent him away because she couldn’t bear the pain of putting her son through all the hurt that she went through just to be molded into someone else’s idea of what he “should be”.
She "forfeited her right to watch over him” because she knew she couldn’t take care of him anymore because she had gone through so much over the previous years
MOST IMPORTANTLY she felt PROUD OF DAMIAN when he
Went against Ra’s wishes to continue on being the weapon he forged Damian into
Apologized to his nanny - Wen - for allowing him to take the blame for Damian breaking something of Ra’s’ which resulted in his nanny ending up dead because of it
He also set Wen’s soul free so he would no longer be trapped because of Damian’s actions
When he apologized to Silas Smith for killing him, taking away his children’s father, and the life he wanted to create so him and his family would be better off
ALL OF THESE TRAITS WERE TRAITS DAMIAN DEEMED AS WEAKNESS OR PATHETIC BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT HIS GRANDFATHER INSTILLED IN HIM BUT TALIA SAID SHE WAS PROUD OF HIM AND SHE WANTED DAMIAN TO BE PROUD OF HIMSELF TOO!!!!!!!!!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SO HOW DOES THIS CONNECT TO HER CALLING DAMIAN “albi” or “My heart”???
Easy.
There’s so much mischaracterization when it comes to Talia because of racist writing and so much damage has been done to her character because of it. I think it’s so damn beautiful that Juni Ba, a person of color, was able to do so much justice to her character in a single issue than has been done for her in a fucking decade.
Talia is a beautifully flawed character, who didn’t always know what to do, but it’s obvious that when done correctly, she can easily become more than what racist RETCONNED writing has done to her.
I absolutely love seeing the Al Ghul family being characterized with Arab traits, including Arabic sayings. I love it even more when she’s characterized with them WITHOUT HER FULFILLING SOME RACIST ARAB STEREOTYPE, and I think it’s so sweet, honestly, that it’s just subtly slipped in there, and I really hope we get to see more writers like Juni Ba for Talia Al Ghul. She deserves so much more than what she’s been given, and I love her so much you couldn’t even understand
Completely relatable for Yoshiki to give in to his attachment to the not-Hikaru so early on. If I was an isolated, closeted gay teenager who’d lost my best friend (who I was in love with), and the eldritch horror that replaced him came back validating my feelings every second of every day, telling me how much he loved and appreciated me, touching me constantly, giving me honest, unfiltered declarations of devotion?? Shit, I’d fold too
Friendly reminder that Phantom Busters is peak and everyone should be on this. WHEN IT GETS ANIMATED JUST KNOW I WAS HERE FIRST. Absolute cinema
THIS AND GOKURAKUGAI IS PEAK TRUST ME
I will be INSUFFERABLE when this gets animated
i think the reason these 'soft reveals' work so great because because in a darker universe, a universe made in darkseid's image, you expect things to be things to be the worst, the most miserable they could possibly be.
and yet, its in this universe that bruce and kal get to experience life with their parents.
even diana, taken from her mother and sisters as a baby and cast into literal hell, finds the love of a mother there.
despite everything, they experienced that love. despite everything, there's hope.
Interspecies Adoption appreciation post
Man, this made me realize how much I love this trope.
I love found family
I’m gonna fucking sob
Another thing that makes the straw hats stand out as a crew is that they have snack time.
From what I’ve seen about other pirate crew, they’re usually tight on food. Whether it be rationing or straight up starving, they always have a limit on how much they eat.
But not the straw hats. They have a huge kitchen and dining area. Their cook has specialized menus for each and every person he meets. It’s seen in the way he adapts to feed zoro, who doesn’t eat overly sweet things and which chopper, who does like sweet things. He does all that while also doing his job and making sure they’re all healthy.
A testament to his skills as a cook is just how much the straw hats grew as he began feeding them. Luffy got taller, Usopp and Zoro got more muscle, Namis body began actually filling out, because they all had likely been underweight before or borderline malnourished before.
As a crew, they’re different. They have snack time, everyone gets something catered to them. Even for how much sanji puts in a facade of only doing it for the girls, he still feeds the boys and modifies each serving for them.
Another thing, each crewmate has an area designed for them. Franky specifically designed the ship with them in mind. People he met like, 46 hours before. He synced up to their wave length right on away.
Zoro has the crows nest, Nami has her own office, Robin has a seat on the deck and the library, Usopp has two separate workshops dedicated to him, and of course, Luffy has his special seat on the the figure head of The Thousand Sunny.
They’re a special crew because they know how the others work, they know each other so well that it’s like they’re operating on a higher frequency.
compared to a lot of other crews we see? They’re special, because they have snacktime
THIS is why I love One Piece. Their dynamics and how well they connect and mesh with one another is what I adore about them.
I just want to make a post to point out how Law being a doctor is not anecdotal.
Like, it’s shown in the anime that it’s his parents profession and he started to learn young and all but the Light Novel made me realize how important being a doctor is to him and how much pride and happiness it brings him.
It’s not just something about him, being a doctor is something that defines him and is very important for his character.
He studies tones when he gets the time, he even worked in a doctor office for multiple years when he was younger after Cora’s death.
He started saving people’s life at a very young age and carried out very complex surgeries very young. He’s literally a genius in this domain and it’s too bad it’s not shown enough in the anime.
The doctor he was working with told him how good he was and how much potential he had at just 13/14yo. He was born for this.
When he saved the lives of the people he loved he was filled with this euphoria that he saw his parents get before him, he understood their joy and felt connected to them and proud of himself.
He founds himself in being a doctor, he loves saving lives and is proud of how capable he is. He is able to make the most of his ope ope no mi thanks to his talent and hard work.
Law may be a pirate but he is also a doctor and he wouldn’t see himself being anything else than that.
As a pre-med student, I just love Law and I hope to become a doctor as well <3
who the fuck said he could make me cry in an sbs segment
Fucking crying
the day ochako realized tsuyu's a lesbian
Does anyone else feel like crying when they remember that canonically Ace never shut up about Luffy or is that just me
