I can only conclude that people want anakin’s fall to not be about padmé/deny that he ever really loved padmé because they can’t reckon with the idea that someone could be pushed into doing something horrific out of the understandable and relatable impulse to protect their loved ones, or that someone could be capable of true love and also commit atrocities, or that even someone who spent the last two decades serving the cause of evil could still choose to love and to do good, and, well, I have some unfortunate news for those people about A). the core message of the SW saga and B). real life

really love a corruption arc where the character is trying way too hard to make it work but they're in over their head and it's uncomfortable and embarrassing and they're swallowing their own puke every time they do something awful and damp with sweat and trembling but insistent that they can do this, they want it, they're not a child, but it's like they're playing dressup in clothes that are too big for them and trying to convince their own reflection in the mirror that they fit and it's just no fun to watch at all

the issue with jedi internal politics in rots is that they promoted anakin to upper level administration with all the requisite duties but refused to update the system or his staff id or give him a pay raise (the jedi title of master) to reflect this and so he still doesn't have access to the upper level admin exclusive staff lounge (jedi archives restricted section). does that make more sense to you

like it doesn't matter that it's palpatine who requested that promotion, the issue is just that anakin got promoted and got the requisite extra responsibilities but not the bonuses that would otherwise come with the new job

Not just that. The Council makes it a point to embarass and punish him for it with a moment that is eerily similar to how they isolated and looked down upon him as a child in the middle of their chamber.

They push Anakin into an assignment that goes against his principles and the institutional relationship of the Jedi Order and Galactic Senate, AND YET, they still purposely make him feel excluded and inferior. Imagine employing an agent for a risky task while also tarnishing your working relationship with them… it doesn’t make any sense unless they’re just incompetent.

It’s not surprising that when Anakin reaches peak desperation (haunted by unrelenting nightmares and the need to save Padmé from his premonitions), Palaptine’s claims that “the Jedi are trying to take over…they’re holding you back… I can help you” begin to make a lot of sense and begin to sound like the answer to all of his problems.
