I feel like a lot of people get "All Art is Political" confused with "All Art is made with Political Intentions" which is not the same.
As someone who majored in media studies literally this. All art is political, and all art will typically reveal something about the politics of the time that it’s made. However, plenty of creators are just making things without an intentional political message. Many are just trying to have fun! In some ways this can be more valuable to analyze in the sense that we see what unconcious biases people have for better or for worse.
great addition from @airlock:
#and that's before you get to the next step which is:#the author's stated political intentions are not necessarily the politics that made it to the text#sometimes also known as 'this has very strong anti-racist messages for a work with only one dark-skinned character who is a caricature'
