learning from the opposite sign
yeah so that’s anothеr one of my long ass posts. we all know opposite signs have much to learn from each other and that one sign often lacks balance and behaves like their underdeveloped opposition if they haven’t learned the lesson their sister sign is trying to teach them. however, many people seem to be focusing a lot more on what the second sign in the opposition has to teach the first (f.e. what pisces has to teach virgo) rather than the other way around. it seems as if there is some common understanding that the first sign in the zodiac is least developed and ELEVATED and the last one is the deepest and wisest one so the further your sign is placed, the more others have to look up to you. that’s bullshit tho.
this is why i made a post which is specifically pointing out what the first sign in any opposition can teach the second. y’all signs from the second half of the zodiac ain’t superior okay??? lmao
also this post doesn’t say the former sign has nothing to learn from the latter one and that they’re perfect as they are - it just focuses on what the latter has to learn from the former as that’s a less explored topic.
libra - they are known to be the love experts of the zodiac or smth. masters of relationships. always managing to compromise and balance the scales between the two people (or as many as they are), to make everyone feel satisfied. is this what it takes to have a healthy relationship tho? at some point sacrifice becomes a burden and its weight pulls down the relationship and won’t lighten up before you hit rock bottom. you feel suffocated cuz the more time passes, the more you realize you can’t really be yourself in this relationship. you have to cut more and more parts of yourself or the other so you can call it “love”, so you can exist together as a whole. people are supposed to change each other, yes. but people are also supposed to have a Self and to share it with others, not just to constantly mold it so it’s pleasing and acceptable. this is why libras actually have a hard time settling down in a satisfying long-term relationship and are known to be heartbreakers or something. you can easily make ppl fall for you and want you when you pretend to be just who they want you to be and when you’re doing anything to make them feel pleased. but how long can you keep this up before it makes you absolutely miserable? is this really sustainable?
aries - aries are like…not exactly known to be great in relationships. selfish, unable to compromise, demanding, impulsive - that’s all adjectives we often hear about them and they’re not exactly what makes a long-term relationship work, right? however, aries possesses one quality that is absolutely vital for any relationship to work and that libra is often lacking. that’s authenticity. in order to have a lasting and genuine connection with someone, you need to SHOW yourself and to be yourself. you can’t build a connection on dishonesty, cutting parts of yourself to please others and shining light just on those parts of yourself that the other person would deem lovable in your opinion. it’s good to try and please the person that you love but can YOU truly feel loved if you don’t feel seen? and can you ever feel seen if you keep hiding? the answer is “no” and aries people know this in their guts. that’s why even if they’re a mess, at least they’re an honest mess and they’re putting themselves out there, ready to be seen, not just to see. there is immense courage in being seen, you know? and you need to be brave for your relationship to work.
libra has to learn from aries that while observing the other and seeing them in a relationship is important, it can’t be one-sided if you want it to be real. saturn, a planet connected strongly to fear, is elevated in libra - libra has to learn about courage. aries may be reckless and impulsive but it takes a lot of guts to be like this and libra has to be brave like them and to allow themselves to be truly seen, to be as they are rather than as the other would want them to be. you can’t go around blaming others they don’t treat you like you wanna be treated when you won’t even let them know you, let alone share what you really want. put yourself out there! not the self others want you to be, but the self you are DESPITE of others.
scorpio - the taurus/scorpio axis is the one associated with matter and its various states. matter can live and matter can die - taurus rules the life part of the axis and scorpio rules the death one. scorpios are known to seek elevation from the matters of the body and the flesh. they constantly go through various transformations of the soul that allow them to penetrate and comprehend life on a deeper level than those who seek stability and routine. scorpios transcend the self by destroying it and recreating it over and over again. they want to defeat matter and its decay by a cycle of constant rebirth they impose on themselves. however, they often get stuck in the same routine they’re trying so hard to escape from by getting addicted to self-destruction. you can’t “transcend” matter if you spend your life slaving to the concept of transcending it. there’s no point in constantly destroying yourself if you forget that the point, after all, is to live. not to die. one can’t understand fully the depths of death (when i say death, i also mean it in a more general sense - like destruction or an ending) unless one has learned about the joys of life - and sometimes, in order to do this, you have to give in to the material side of life and find its beauty, appreciate it, treasure it. you can’t overcome yourself in order to prove you’re more than matter if you haven’t accepted who you are first. how can you truly transform something that you refuse to see for what it is? scorpios know all about depths and secrets but often fail to look at the upper layers of life and matter and to enjoy and understand the simple things that taurus cherishes so much.
taurus - there was this quote from nabokov, a well-known taurus, that i don’t remember by heart but it went on to explain that the true genius of people is when they manage to find deeper meaning and profound beauty in the simple & material joys of life. and it’s true - you can go and search for something beyond life in deep, secret and complicated things, but you can never really grasp anything bigger than life before you actually learn about life itself. without realizing you’re actually life itself. before learning how to see life everywhere and how to cherish it, how to see its poetry and to love its eternal mortality. death isn’t something separate from life, it’s just the other end of the cycle of matter. no matter how hard you try to live without material possessions or to not depend on them and to not rely on physical comfort and pleasure for your well-being, you can never escape from the burden of being a physical, mortal creature. of being a body. the key is to find out it’s actually not a burden, it’s a blessing. to be more, you have to accept first that you are matter - and no amount of self-destruction can change that. taurus knows this very well - the road to transcending or ruling over matter doesn’t come through destroying it, but through understanding it, appreciating it and realizing you’re a part of it.
scorpio has to learn from taurus that in order to understand death, you need to understand life first. being a creature that depends on matter to exist and do anything doesn’t mean there is nothing beyond this. but if you have to learn what’s beyond matter, you need to accept part of what you are is matter and to learn how to love it and cherish it. you can’t transform yourself if all you know is how to destroy. you have to learn how to create too.
sagittarius - the know-it-all philosopher of the zodiac that goes around spreading wisdom and always having the last word…right? sagittarius is said to be the best teacher out there. kinda fits the stereotype - they love being respected and valued as someone who has the answers and generously shares them with others. sagittarius really combines it all - practical knowledge they gather through various experiences and theoretical knowledge they constantly squeeze out of their periods of withdrawal during which they brainstorm all the shit in the world and read a bunch of books on random incoherent matters. but there’s something they really lack when it comes to teaching others - limitations. as a sign ruled by the planet of expansion jupiter, sags just really don’t know when to stop and this shows in every aspect of their life. if you keep pouring knowledge over someone without applying it coherently in some useful way, you’re just going to make them feel as if there’s no point in learning anything. knowledge needs to be measured, weighed out and sorted in categories that have their application and purpose, otherwise it’s just a concept one can drown in to escape from the realities of life. do you want to create through knowledge or do you want to escape through it?
gemini - a side of gemini that is not frequently discussed cuz people are always too damn busy ranting how they’re two-faced and backstabbers and what-not is that they’re amazing merchants. mercury, their ruling planet, is literally the ruler of trade. and in order to sell anything, you need to be able to present it properly, taking in account its good sides, how you can flatter them for the target crowd, what are the specific desires and demands of the target crowd, and so on. no matter how much knowledge you possess, you can’t sell it to anyone unless you have the right approach. sagittarius has difficulty reading the crowd and knowing when to stop talking and pouring more and more facts and theories on everyone. on the other hand, gemini knows exactly when to say shit and how to say it so it takes root in the soul of the student. they are amazing in observing and analyzing others and noticing exactly when they’ve reached their limit and when enough is enough. gemini are also incredible in categorizing things and recognizing types, subtypes and stuff like this - same as virgo, the other sign ruled by mercury. in order to make use of knowledge, you need to be able to sift it and separate it. separation is important when it comes to seeing the connection between things too - it’s very “elevated” and “spiritual’ to say shit like “WE’RE ALL ONE” but it takes attention to detail and a nuanced mind to recognize the ties and bonds between things that are actually separated in reality.
sagittarius has to learn from gemini a more analytical approach to knowledge and how to separate it and categorize it in order to understand it better. sags also need to realize that limitations exist for a reason and in order to teach someone anything, you need to use them accordingly, trying to observe the other people and their reactions rather than just to act like some lonely self-absorbed monk that constantly throws rocks of wisdom on people from a high mountain. also…there’s no point in putting stuff out there if you don’t know how to present it so the audience is able to grasp it and chew it. putting the food in someone’s mouth isn’t the same as feeding them - you need to make sure the food is edible and good for them too. the same applies to teaching others.
capricorn - capricorns are the renowned rulers of all sorts of structures, systems and hierarchies - and what is society, if not the biggest one humans have ever made? well, aquarius has a little say in this too, since it’s ruled by saturn as well, but capricorn gets the final word, okay?? these people are the backbone of society. and not in the sense that they just SUPPORT society, no, not at all. they BUILD society from the ground off - capricorns are visionaries with extremely well-structured and developed notions on how things should be run and they happen to also have the stamina and will-power to put them into action and make them actually work. that’s the basis of every structure ever. what could be lacking here tho? what else can be possibly needed? imma be real with you guys - there is a lot lacking here lmfao. capricorns really lack the grasp on the emotional & personal element that is vital for any structure to actually work. isn’t this the idea of society, as a great example for a man-build system - to keep people individually satisfied so they can see how their effort put into the good of the whole is paying off? it’s not going to be maintained if you expect everyone to act like a robot. if you’re taking into account the interest of the many and design a structure that benefits them all, you need to consider the interest of the individual as well. otherwise you’re creating a world where there is a constant demand of sacrifice - and let me tell you this inevitably makes people ask themselves “but what will happen if we stop suffering for others to be well??” if society is not a home to all of us, but a machine we’re forced to constantly run like god damn robots, why would we want to live in it? capricorns really need to learn how to value the importance of comfort and emotional fulfillment before they start doing shit about systems that involve people aka creatures that desperately need comfort and emotional fulfillment to function.
cancer - here’s someone who knows shit about homes and personal fulfillment and emotions and all that jazz. you know, people’s first association with cancer usually isn’t “structures” or “society”. but cancer is the sign officially associated with homes, motherhood, and family and like….that’s where society started, you know. usually, our first interaction with the world of “others” is through our family members, initially through our mother. that’s when we realize the importance of creating a “whole” where people work together for each other. what is society after all, if not a bigger home where we all try to take care of each other? well, at least that’s what it’s supposed to be…if only the capricorn archetype in all of us could learn that you can’t force a system on people if you don’t make it feel comfortable and satisfying and if it doesn’t consider and fulfill their personal needs. it’s just not gonna work okay? no matter how hard one tries to be devoid of emotions or to put them aside, you can’t have a life worth living without them. regardless of how flawlessly functional your structure is supposed to be. the personal element in society is just as important as the interest of the whole and it will always, always be so. the faster we all grasp this, the better.
capricorn has to learn from cancer that society is above all a home, not a heartless industry run by robots. if you don’t make it feel like home, like a family where everyone takes care of the other and considers their emotions and individual needs, it’s bound to get fucked up and that’s a fact. we all need to feel comfortable in order to be productive and no system can ever change that, regardless of how well it’s built. cancers really know how to take care of the needs of the individual and that’s where you gotta start if you want to take care of the whole.
aquarius - no one can manage to be as detached from the self as aquarius. despite the fact that these people often have moments of social isolation and withdrawal, they still remain focused on the other and disconnected from the self in some way. aquarius are often associated with social reforms and all sorts of noble causes. they fight for the others, not for themselves, and this truly brings them a feeling of fulfillment. however, their lack of genuine connection with their more..selfish and individual desires, with their personal emotions and needs often leads to a disconnection from other individuals as well. they know very well all there is to know about the whole, about the others as a group - but they lack knowledge in the personal matters & relationships and fail to care about the well-being of others as individuals. this is how fanatics are born - you keep acting for the best interest of the others and keep saying all you do is for them, but you don’t actually know them or connect to them personally. you’re fighting for the concept of people but when you’re met with the reality of people, you don’t really want it anywhere near you and can’t relate to it or connect in some way. you like to believe you don’t need “the other” in order to feel fulfilled and that’s why you focus on “the other” as a group that has no personal relationship with you. aquarius people like to make fun of those who openly want attention and always brag about how they don’t need validation from others and don’t care if they’re shocking but the truth is they do this lil act to get a reaction out of others without openly admitting they need the validation. i think the leo-aquarius axis can also be called “the axis of creation” - those two signs are the most creative out there and they have the need to create so they can get through to other people. they need their attention, they need to reach them somehow and to be seen, to change others through this interaction. but aquarius seems to think you can touch and change the other without putting your heart into it.
leo - leos are often labeled as self-centered or even narcissistic but at least they know that one super important thing that seems to evade aquarius: you can’t connect to the other unless you’re connected to the self. fighting for the other is all good and noble but at some point you may end up realizing you don’t know what you’re really fighting for (the whole “rebel without a cause” symptom that aquarius is often associated with) cuz you keep being half-distant and dissociated from all of your personal relationships. you can’t be present with people on a more intimate basis if you’re not present within yourself and centered. leos know all about having a personal center and understanding it, as well as following it. in order to put your heart into a cause and to fight with it for others, you need to know your heart first, am i right? the lack of personal involvement with the others on an emotional level really affects any other kind of involvement with people. leos may get too personal and selfish at times but that’s how you know they’re genuinely into whatever it is they’re doing and they not only see the other, but also feel them. it’s actually kind of really similar to the whole cancer vs capricorn dilemma - after all capricorn and aquarius are both ruled (co-ruled) by saturn and cancer and leo are ruled by the two luminaries and are connected to our parental figures.
aquarius has to learn from leo that you can’t fully connect and understand others on a universal basis until you do it on a personal one too and that you can’t do that before you connect to your own self and feel centered in it. if you don’t understand and embrace the personal level of “the other” before you do so with the global one, you are never going to be able to truly grasp the meaning of being human and connecting with other humans. leo can really show aquarius how to follow your heart so your battles are never empty and meaningless and never leave other people apathetic.
pisces - pisces are the-self proclaimed therapists of the zodiac. they keep on the image of being the epitome of empathy and putting others first, always being there to listen to everyone. actually, they’re often extremely selfish and deal with their empathy by failing to turn it into compassion as they’re afraid others will take advantage of them and cuz putting yourself in the shoes of the other might be quite painful. pisces often tell themselves “okay i’m sick of having to take care of everyone and being there for everyone” after they’ve empathized with someone - but they rarely manage to put that care on the outside and actually help the person or do something nice for them. they just feel the emotion so strongly they think everyone else has felt it too and knows they suffer for this person. so after they have enough of being tormented by their own feelings, they decide it’s time to focus solely on themselves in order to not be “tricked into compassion” once more. pisces often puts others first only to rub this in their face later by guilt-tripping them for letting them be so giving and such a victim of everyone else, while in fact they simply expect others to read their desires and do everything for them. my personal experience with pisces (and the experience of literally everyone I know) is that they never listen to me and when they do it’s just to say “okay thanks for sharing” and to start talking about themselves and complaining about literally everything without actually letting in any practical advice. if anything, pisces is the sign that others therapize for free all the time - often out of pity and annoyance cuz pisces don’t really seek help, they just want to embody the victim perfectly.
virgo - virgos take a lot of shit for being cold, withdrawn and self-centered. people are used to seeing as compassionate and empathic those that constantly brag about feeling so much and understanding everyone and being super hurt by stuff. virgo ain’t the type. if anything, they try really hard to be self-sufficient and to not burden or need anyone. however, they often carry the burden of others. no one tries to help and fix everything like a virgo. they turn their empathy into compassion and their compassion in help that they adjust individually so it’s best suited to motivate and point in the right direction each and every person that crosses their path. seriously, they go and try to help everyone. and since, unlike pisces, virgos despise co-dependency and try to deal with their abandonment issues and their feeling of defectivity in a healthy way, they really try to teach people how to depend only on themselves and to develop individually, to channel their own power. they give unparalleled advice and motivation and the best reality checks. they know how to respectfully set boundaries and are the best role-models when it comes to developing self-love and self-worth. this is the sign that is everyone’s therapist for free. well, unless they’re your therapist and you’re paying them lmfao.
pisces has to learn from virgo that empathy is not useful in any way unless you manage to turn it into compassion - and this requires hard work. it’s not a gift. there is a difference between saving people and helping people and it’s fundamental. and taking care of others before you take care of yourself is actually a burden in the long term - both for you and for everyone else, and it’s not sustainable. boundaries exist for a reason.
