leela in her first serial is a subversion of the idea of a "savage" companion (an idea rooted in racism) - she's intelligent, resourceful, and gets thrown out of her society for denying the existence of xoanon, aka god. pretty much every story since has ignored all that and written leela as violent, superstitious, and stupid.

I love the canon quantum superposition the doctor exists in at all times. a character that has at least five different origins, is married, is asexual, has children, a planet that exists and doesn’t, has a human mother, came out of a loom, is from another dimension, stories that have happened multiple ways in different mediums. and it’s not “time travel retconned that previous story” or “that happened in a different timeline” all these things happened together overlapping in imperfect and conflicting ways and yet it all works

New headcanon that Seven climbed over that cliff in Dragonfire because at this point he's so used to being in some sort of cinematic mortal danger every 20 minutes that if such a situation isn't readily available, he's been conditioned to seek it out himself. And his subconscious has to be a smartass about it by making it a literal cliff-hanger.
My thing with doctor who canon is that ‘not in the show’ ≠ not canon and even ‘contradictory to the show’ ≠ not canon, because the show is not the start and end of canon

The literal Seventh Doctor hanging-off-a-cliff cliffhanger in Dragonfire is still one of the funniest things Doctor Who has ever done because that is just... entirely his fault.

I don't actually think Dodo knows that Steven is from the future. He's definitely told her (multiple times) but she thinks he is doing a bit. She's like haha good one Steven!! And then goes on assuming he's from the 60s
She thinks he's just like, a really unhip guy. She thinks his total lack of knowledge of 60s slang and pop culture and music is bcos he's a loser. She's taken it upon herself to introduce him to all her favourite hit songs and he is very politely going along with it bcos he doesn't have the heart to tell her that it all sounds like shit to him. She's like now Steven how will you ever get a girl to like you if you don't even know who John Smith and the Common Men are and he doesn't know how to tactfully explain that where he's from liking 20th century folk music makes girls think you're some kind of pretentious nerd. Anyway he knows the names of all the Beatles against his will.
