There’s a quote in chapter 4 that says ‘I collected bones from charnel-houses and disturbed, with profane fingers, the tremendous secrets of the human frame’, and then just after ‘the dissecting room and the slaughter-house furnished many of my materials’ so at least some of the parts were from real dead people. However I still think he probably made a lot himself as well
