Is it so bad?

So I was in the drug store after picking up my prescription and suddenly got the itch to go over to the makeup isle. Now anyone who knows me knows I am not by any means a “girly girl”.I hardly ever wear make up and I never buy it. I don’t like wearing skits or dresses, I prefer manual labor over sitting at a desk, and I have more in common with men than woman. But for that split second I found myself wanting to buy lipstick and nail polish and eyeliners and eye-shadows. While in that moment I actually had a slight guilty feeling, like I wasn't supposed to want those things or that I was abandoning my way of living. I’m not entirely sure why I felt that way but I just did. I was saying in my head “what the hell is wrong with you, if the 16 yr old version of yourself could meet you she would kick your as right now” What was so wrong with me wanting to look alil prettier, or to make my beautiful eyes stick out?

That’s why I’m so done with all these “IT HAPPENED TO ME: I tried polyamory and it was AWFUL” stories online. Ok? I tried monogamy and it was awful. *shrug*

Now I want to write an article like that, that makes monogamy sound like some weird new thing all the kids are trying these days, so I tried it too, and it was awful, and thank goodness I gave that up and am now happily, comfortably, safely poly again!

I enjoy dates.

But I don’t enjoy how some think one date will make me want them. Or how I so “obviously” am just in it for sex. If I asked do a date, I have romantic intentions. I wouldn’t ask someone to go on a rendezvous if I just wanted to fuck them. I would much rather get to the point in those situations. I think people hear that I’m dating a guy and a woman and that much mean I’m full up - well, not necessarily. If I’m interested in you I want to know more about you. But that is the perril of a college town, mundane thinking and the smidge of conservative upbringings on their shoulders.
