ALSO you are typically not tipping JUST the server. In most restaurants the server has to tip out bussers/bartenders/etc a percentage of their SALES which means if you don’t tip, they are paying for you to be served.

AND ANOTHER THING, if you ever see a “service charge” added to your check, ask your server if that is an automatic gratuity that goes towards THEM. A lot of the time the server doesn’t see any of that service charge.
