thanos is fundamentally flawed as a villain in this movie because he has no personal connection to the heroes and it leads to his characterization falling back to the boring post credits chair sitting thanos from the previous films, instead of the somewhat interesting thanos we saw in infinity war. the way he escalates as a threat is uninspired and comes out of nowhere, instead of being built up properly. the movie would have worked better without a villain altogether and focused more on the heroes instead so that we could have gotten some focus on - for example - hulk’s character development that now happens between movies
