As Aromantic Visibility Day (June 5th) approaches this year, friendly reminder from an aroace: it's Aromantic Visibility Day, not "Aroace" Visibility Day! Not all aromantics are also asexual — there are aromantics who are allosexual (aroallos for short), aromantics who don't separately label their sexual orientation at all, and aromantics whose sexual orientation doesn't fit into an ace/allo binary, as well as likely even more aros who don't fit into "aroace" for even more reasons — and all of them are equally included in Aromantic Visibility Day, because they are equally aromantic! In fact, those aros who aren't ace are disproportionately erased and in need of visibility, even more than aroaces are (which is really saying something, because aroace visibility itself is already terrible), so including them in Aromantic Visibility Day is vital, and using the correct name for the occasion instead of calling it an "aroace day" is a start.

Overall: again, speaking as an aroace myself, we aroaces will not be offended if you just call Aromantic Visibility Day the thing it is actually called! I care about sharing this upcoming day with my fellow aros, so stop excluding them, even accidentally! We aroaces celebrate this day but it is not for us exclusively!

Here is what I currently identify with, in case anyone is curious lmao. I'm still figuring myself out, but this is what I feel most comfortable with right now!

Top left: Genderfae

Microlable under the Genderfluid umbrella; a form of genderfluidity that never encompasses male or masculine genders.

Note: I bounce between using she/her and they/them. She/They pronouns are fine for me.

Top right: Bisexual

Attraction to multiple (two or more) genders. (I'm still figuring out where exactly I fall on the bi spectrum lol)

Bottom Left: Arospec/Aromantic Umbrella

A group of romantic orientations that all fall under the umbrella term of aromantic. (I'm not quite sure where I fall on the Aromantic spectrum yet)

Bottom Right: Aroallo (Aromantic Allosexual)

Aromantic or aro-spec and also allosexual. I experience sexual attraction, but not romantic attraction (or a limited amount, not quite sure yet).

Watched Stampylongnose and tried to build his Lovely Home

First played on the Xbox 360 before he got a PC

Will not enter a cave without a full stack of torches, stone tools, and some form of armor. Goes very slowly, placing torches and running away from mobs until it is too bright for any to spawn.

Maxes out his inventory within an hour

Brooklynn showed him how to download JurassiCraft and he played for two weeks before getting sick of the scientific inaccuracies

Will quit the world if his animals die

Owns all four Minecraft Handbooks and has that one house design burned into his memory

Screws around on multiplayer servers every once in a while

Takes a defensive role in Bedwars, mainly focusing on building around the bed and protecting it from invaders.

HUGE fan of Minecraft Storymode

Brooklynn

Redstone warrior. Builds insane contraptions with command blocks and shit

Knows all of the commands by heart and always enables cheats in her worlds

Elite knowledge on mods and shaders. Even did a few showcases for her channel

Perfectly capable in Survival mode but prefers creative because she likes to build crazy complicated stuff

Really enjoys playing on multiplayer servers, especially Skyblock and Build Battle

Also really loves Minecraft Storymode

Ben

Freakishly good at survival mode. Almost speedrun level.

Actively seeks out creepers for their gunpowder so he can make TNT and Fireworks

Attacks Iron Golems for fun

Builds his base in the Nether because he thinks it gives him aura

Turns up brightness to 100% when exploring caves because he thinks crafting torches takes too long

Refuses to turn on Keep Inventory because it's "cheating"

Tames all the cats he can find because he likes seeing the creepers run away from him

Has perfected the water bucket method

Actively seeks out Pillager Towers because he wants the Illager/Ominous banner for his base

A BEAST at Bedwars. Can build those wool bridges without crouching and is across the map faster than you can blink. Uses fireballs to knock people off of bridges and drops TNT onto his opponents' beds

Sammy

Professional animal collector. Tries to tame every wolf, cat, parrot, etc that she finds. Makes perfect little enclosures for her cows and sheep and pigs and chickens and other animals she can find, complete with little watering holes and enrichment.

Refuses to kill anything unless absolutely necessary. Will not touch a peaceful mob. Doesn't even craft a wooden sword. Will literally look for apples from trees before she even thinks about killing a pig.

Refuses to enter caves. Has absolutely zero desire to go mining and is perfectly happy with her stone tools.

Usually plays on Peaceful mode because she doesn't want to kill anything

If any of her animals die, she holds a whole funeral service and gives them each a special little gravestone. She also cries while she does this

Kenji

Exclusively creative mode. Immediately builds a house with diamond/gold/emerald blocks and gives himself a full set of diamond tools/armor.

Kills the Ender Dragon (in Creative mode) just so he can get the head and put it on display in his diamond house.

Spawns a bunch of wolves and tames them to make a dog army.

Watched DanTDM and PopularMMOs as a kid and screws around with mods from time to time

Enables cheats but has to look up the proper commands because he never gets them right

Tried Bedwars once and got absolutely smoked. Never touched it again

Downloads really ugly texture packs because he thinks it's funny

Yaz

Casual survival mode player. Thinks creative mode is boring.

Has a hardcore world that she chips away at from time to time.

Turns Keep Inventory on because she cannot be fucked to go searching for her shit every time she dies

Constantly has to Google crafting recipes because she can never remember them

Has a bad habit of constantly sprint-hopping and forgetting to collect food, and only realizes her error when she is at three hunger bars and can no longer sprint. She will genuinely quit the world and start a new one if this happens because she hates not being able to run fast

Plays Parkour maps to blow off steam

Hates jungle biomes because they are impossible to navigate quickly

Never settles down to build a base because she can never decide on a location

Can I just vent about the Billie Eillish quote thats been circulating because I feel like we need to talk about it and why its not helping vegan and vegetarians.

One. Billie Eillish is a know hypocrite, one of the most damning examples in this instance is that shes claiming "if you eat meat you do not love animals" but she has several get ready with me videos promoting brands that test on animals... so make that make sense.

Two: its a moral high ground argument that never works for vegans. Promoting veganism by claiming to be morally better has never worked in educating people on why they should cut meat from their diet. If you come out swinging with insults your going to get resistance. That's not helping your case.

Three: Food is important to culture. There are dishes that people hold very close to their hearts because they mean something to them. A favorite dish from a parent, a signature dish from a specific culture, by saying your lesser because you eat meat can be insulting to the very culture of the meat dishes people enjoy.

Four: its an all or nothing mentality that prevents people from trying. If I cant be cruelty free without being vegan, why try to shop cruelty free at all? If I can't 100% cut all animals products from my diet why cut back at all?

This is why vegan + bacon has become so popular while 100% veganism hasn't. Reducing meat consumption as a whole is better then shaming people who aren't 100% vegan. Because 5 vegans dont make the same impact as 500 people reducing meat.

as a vegetarian , a MILLION times yes!!! ^^^ you absolutely can love animals and still eat them. Inuit tribes who eat every bit of whales do. heck, most Indigenous tribes make a practice of using every part of the animal they catch. not to mention, what the fuck else are people who can't grow/afford vegetables supposed to eat??? you also cannot tell me with a straight fucking face that cultures and religions who literally enforce ethical animal treatment hate animals. look up how Halal and Kosher meat is killed.

i sometimes get my carnivore/omnivore friends feeling guilty for mention bing eating meat, and i can PROMISE you, i don't feel bad at all!!! you had fried chicken? cool thing dude hope you enjoyed it. you had a beef burger? i honestly don't mind, im not going to start calling you a murderer XD i assure you all, those vegetarians and vegans that yell at people who eat meat are a very small minority of us. i don't even bring up vegetarianism unless it comes up in conversation or im making a joke lol. you wouldn't even know most of us are vegetarian or vegan unless you're having a meal with us

my main thing with eating meat is the unethical and enormous climate impact the meat industries have, in the west especially. take it from someone who's studied the climate impacts of eating meat EXTENSIVELY, the blame needs to be on corporations who abuse animals and ruin the planet.

that isn't to say we shouldn't reduce the amount of meat we eat, especially if you can afford to buy plant based products. if you can cut out any meat product, it should be beef!! that has by far the most significant impact on the environment. pork, chicken, fish, dairy etc has more of an impact than plant based stuff, but it's not as much as beef.

and Spacie is right about the reducing thing!! if you can't be vegetarian that's also fine!!!! any time you can reduce the amount of meat you eat (especially bought from large corporations) is good, but then again, there are countless nuances to eating meat that we need to consider here!!!!!!! culture, location (food deserts), (lack of) access to vegetables/plant based products, chronic illness (lots of us don't have the energy to eat vegetarian or vegan all the time since that usually requires extra cooking time and energy, also endometriosis), religion, traditions, and LOADS more

but trying to act like all people who eat meat are assholes who hate animals is plain wrong, and it's an especially shitty statement from a white person living in the imperial core. she needs to get the fuck off her moral high horse. and i hope billie eilish fans openly acknowledge all that, or i will be side eyeing you

I'm not vegetarian or vegan but I saw someone make a point on social media a while back that reminded me of this. Even if you're 100% vegan, if you have a pet that has to eat meat you're still supporting the meat industry. Does that mean you hate animals because you're...feeding your animal? I saw a woman who was vegan and she made a point that while she's doing her part, she has to buy meat for her ferret, so she's not any better than someone who eats meat.

I don't think my point is very clear but what I'm trying to say is people shouldn't treat veganism as a moral thing because everything has an impact

So i’m not Vegan or Vegetarian, so I can’t really add anything to this dialogue, but Jaiden Animations just put out a new video talking about this exact topic! I think she approaches it in a much more productive and understanding way than Billie has. I highly recommend checking it out, she makes a lot of great points and offers a more nuanced perspective on vegetarianism/veganism!

For anyone stumbling upon this, these headcanons (currently) only apply to my JWCC fic, The Art of Evolution. These are only canon to that fic as of right now. But feel free to use any of these if you wish!

Ok so before I get into the lore drop, I'm gonna preface this with a little disclaimer. While all of this will likely get mentioned in the fic at some point, most of it won’t be super fleshed out unless it is necessary for the direction I’m taking the character in. Characters that are significantly impacted by religion, or that have arcs that revolve around religion, will have more fleshed-out and nuanced religious storylines. But I'm not going to do this for every character, because trying to write a super complex and nuanced religious subplot for every character will start to bog down the overall narrative. Religion simply isn’t a defining factor of some of these characters, and if I want to explore all of the themes/topics I'm hoping to cover, I want to make sure the story moves along. With that out of the way, fuck it, here's some lore lmao.

Darius's family is Protestant Christian. His mom was raised Pentecostal, and his dad was raised Methodist. Darius and Brandon grew up attending a Pentecostal Church in Oakland, and they went every Sunday pretty consistently when Darius was young. They don't go as frequently anymore, especially since his dad got sick, but as of now he still considers himself a Christian.

Brooklynn wasn't raised religious. She has good basic knowledge of most major religions due to traveling and general curiosity, but she would consider herself Agnostic.

Ben's mother is Jewish, and his father was Christian (though he never actually attended church). Ben's experience with his abusive father left him with a lot of resentment and trauma toward religion in general. However, he has a lot of fond memories of Jewish traditions he would partake in with his mom and relatives. He is a Jewish Atheist, which means he follows the ethnic and cultural construct of Jewishness without believing in the religious aspects.

Sammy's family practices Catholicism. Her parents, little sisters, and she were all baptized as infants. They go to church every Sunday, attend Mass, the whole shabang. Her church is very conservative, and her parents tend to uphold a lot of those values as well.

Kenji wasn't raised religious. He's also never really cared about religion or "God" or anything like that. It's just not important to him. He wouldn't even really know what to call himself, but I would say he's Agnostic.

Yasmina's mother is a Cultural/Non-Practicing Muslim. Yaz was raised secular, though she observes some traditions and customs with her mother and family members. Yaz isn't sure where she stands on religious belief and would prefer to avoid labels, but she is curious about Islam.

Dave, as many of you already know, was raised following the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS); aka, he was raised Mormon. He no longer practices.

Roxie's family practices Hinduism, but she didn't have much exposure to the faith while she was growing up. She loosely practices and holds onto some beliefs, but it doesn't take up a large part of her life.

Keep in mind, all of this is about the characters' current states. Things will change as the story progresses. Also, this is all subject to change. It probably won't veer too far from what you see here, but don't be surprised if the end product isn't exactly the same. Remember, TAoE is very much a WIP.

Finally, I just want to let y'all know that I am an Atheist, and was raised adjacent to Mormonism. While my fic will at times be very critical of religion and delve into some of its darker aspects, I will make sure to highlight the positive aspects as well. Religion isn't inherently good or bad, and in this case, it's purely a plot device.

she's a lover and a good person at heart but she's also very "the ends justify the means". she doesn't think before she acts. she completely disregarded kenji's feelings when she was telling darius about the break up, and acted like she did nothing wrong. she's also extremely manipulative. does that work in her favor and did it lead to an overall good outcome? yes. is manipulation a good skill to have? no.

we've also seen that she was capable of getting to such a low point in her life that she threatened someone else's life. like davi was genuinely scared for his life when she pointed that laser at him. and we could see in her face that it wasn't a choice she made as a ruse to scare him, her brain genuinely just went there and pointed the laser at him before her soul caught up to what she was doing.

This Native American Heritage Month I want to spread awareness for MMIWG2S crisis, the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirits.

This post has facts, resources to learn more, and includes links with ways to help, although I hope as you read more you realize how much spreading awareness could leave a huge impact as it would create even more help, protections, and resources.

Did you know that indigenous women, girls, and two spirits are murdered and go missing at such high rates that both the USA and Canada have declared it a crisis and epidemic?

In some places they are murdered, assaulted, and go missing at 10x the national average?

May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S in the USA. In Canada it falls on the same day and it's referred to as Red Dress Day.

Red is a sacred color to indigenous peoples. As such is the color we use to raise awareness for our women, girls, and two spirits that have come under harm.

We use both red dresses and a red handprint over the mouth to raise awareness. So if you see these symbols please pay them their proper respect. They are not to be used in cosplay or costumes nor are they to be mocked or appropriated.

You'll also find the phrase "No more stolen sisters" in discussions about MMIW. This is a phrase specifically intended to raise awareness and bring attention to the MMIWG2S crisis and it shouldn't be applied to anyone except indigenous women, girls, and two spirits.

i’m not sure if lunchables are an american thing but they’re pretty common here.

Lunchables are essentially little prepackaged meals that you can build yourself. There are a bunch of different ones, some of the most common that I can recall are the ones with crackers, ham, and cheese, and the pizza one’s. They always came with a little treat too, like an oreo or piece of candy. They’re pretty common for younger kids and if you ever had one of these suckers for lunch you gained +10 aura points.

The food itself is not super amazing, since it’s mostly processed and pretty bland, but it’s easy and gets the job done for when you’re in a rush. I’ve heard of people heating them up but usually people just eat them cold.

Here’s some photos for reference. The right one is the ham and cheese crackers, the left one is the pizza. It comes with all of the ingredients but you build it yourself.
