My mom got married to a foreign man a couple of years ago, and he brought us here to live with him (it's been around 2 months). Things were mostly fine for the first week, but since then, he has turned extremely cold and quick to anger. He's emotionally and financially abusive towars us (gets mad that we tried to get jobs, uses the money he has spent on us while trying to get us here to berate us, etc, I can give more examples but I'm really worked up rn) and I'm scared he will kick us out of his house. We don't have anyone else in this country, and I'm scared. I desperately want to move and this money should cover the first 3 months of rent. Please, even 1 helps. The situation has gotten worse and worse with the days, and they argue almost every day...

He has now decided that he wants to stop the process to legalize his marriage with my mom because "they're not really married anymore" after little more than 2 months of us being here. That marriage is the thing our residency stands on and even though the process is still going, if we get a negative response I don't know what will happen to us. He's still married to her in our country of origin and that could help us but honestly I don't know. Please help us crownfound to be safe.

The devaluation of fanfic compared to art can be summarized as:

Fanartists are allowed to have entire Patreon pages where they ask people to pay money to support their craft.

Fan writers get get selfish and greedy if we ask for reviews that cost nothing but time.

And to be clear, fan artists deserve the support, because they work hard and make amazing work. The issue is that fan writers can't even have a fraction of that- just bringing up the idea of taking comms is met with scorn and accusation that we'd be inviting lawsuits, making fandom less safe.

While fan artists get universal respect in the fandom, writers get scorn for asking for nearly a fraction of the sense of community and sense of support that artists get. Artists don't get told "you should just draw for yourself!" when they don't get engagement.

It just isn't fair.

One of the biggest wins in Wind and Truth that I don't remember people talking about is the fact that Venli gets her people's land back! She goes bravely forward into the unknown, she looks actively for opportunities to help her people, she adapts to the situation, she negotiates with the Queen of Alethkar and she plays the Fused and she WINS!!

The listeners will no longer be starving in the chasms. They will be safe from Odium and safe from the Alethi. They will be the OWNERS of the land. They'll get money to rebuild!

Thanks to Venli and Jasnah, the Alethi and listeners of the Shattered Plains will be more free than anyone, singer or human, under Odium's rule. The listeners aren't kicking any of the Alethi out--they will coexist. I think what bothers me about Disney removing the content warnings from some of their more racist works is that they DIDN'T actually remove the content warnings. If they removed all of it, that would actually be better. Instead, they SPECIFICALLY removed the part saying they could be upsetting, and the part saying "these depictions were wrong then, and they were wrong now."

So Disney specifically removed the part saying it might be upsetting (with an unspoken "and that's okay"), and the part saying they were wrong to have once made such racist works. The combination of the two? It sends the message, "we made this, if you don't like it we don't care, we WILL do it again." Period.

Disney didn't remove content warnings- they changed the language to remove any taking of responsibility for past mistakes. They walked back their apology to the POC they hurt. And that is FUCKED.

Another good response to the "any questions" bit is to ask the interviewers what they like about working there. Shows interest in what it's actually like to work there beyond the propaganda of the advert and website, and hesitation or vague answers can be a red flag to pay attention to if you're in a position where you can turn down a job offer.
