Sinfonie Nr. 5 in D-Dur, op. 107 “Reformation” von Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
[01.27.15.] -- 9:24 AM
[Blaine laughs in one astonished little gust of a chuckle at the end of Agent Gilbert’s little speech. “That’s not the best sort of joke to be making under the circumstances wouldn’t you say, Agent Gilbert.” Blaine means it, what with the bandages still visible on the man’s skin. It makes Blaine’s skin crawl knowing that it could have been much worse had he not intervened. But it’s a weirdly positive to note that Agent Gilbert wasn’t as much of prick as Blaine had previously thought. That’s Blaine’s own problem as well–he ends up profiling people from the get-go. He needs to work on that.
“No, it’s just filing.” Blaine sighs, stretching out his fingers in a lattice. Back to typing; what a joy. He waves Agent Gilbert good bye with a tiny flicker of his fingers and returns his eyes on the dull computer screen when from his periphery, he sees that figure enter his space once more. Blaine would be lying if he said he wasn’t curious as to why.
He turns in his chair to face the FBI agent. “What up?” Blaine asks and then regrets it. He can’t help but make a pained face when Agent Gilbert asks so casually about his attacker.
“Rick Rool is currently in police custody. And there’s no way that you will be interrogating him, apologies.” Blaine says flatly, “Commissioner DeLario has Detectives Pritchard and Keller on it.” Blaine hates this; Agent Gilbert, of course he isn’t allowed to talk to the man who tried to hurt him, but Blaine is as much of a part in the case but he’s being shut out by the others. It sucks that he can’t do anything to help.
“As for the drug Doll, forensics are still working on it.” Blaine ends quietly. He’s so useless.]
[Elliott nods with a serious expression on his face as he receives the news. Of course he isn’t allowed to interrogate Dick McDickerson, but for some reason he feels dissapointed. Elliott was convinced there was something else to that drug Rick was using, that could probably help with the series of murders, but obviously it was far too complicated to claim as the truth without proof.
“Ah... of course” he says out loud after a while “obviously, I can’t... I hope they find some more about the drug... I think that would be useful for your case” he rambles. Elliott looks down at the table again and see all the files, maybe it wasn’t exactly Anderson’s case anymore, but he hoped the detective could work on it again. Elliott would feel awful if someone, as dedicated as Anderson seemed, was trapped any more time in the office because of what he did to help him.
“I... I actually wanted to ask you something else” he says with a serious tone on his voice. He realized after all what happened he didn’t have much time to really talk with Anderson about what Mrs. Harrison told him. Now that it seemed Anderson was acting more nicely with him, maybe he could actually have a normal conversation about Wally with him.
“It’s difficult to ask but...” he says unintentionally showing his nervousness “I need to talk with you about Wall- Don’t say Wally dammit- Wallace Harrison” he pauses “Mrs. Harrison told me you and him were like family, and I figured if something happened to him or changed in his life the weeks or days previous to...” he pauses again “...what happened... probably you would know”]

[”Lettuce is pretty versatile,” Blaine says and reorganizes the files on his desk. There’s so much. Curse the Department’s procrastination since the 1970s. He places the stack to the side and decides that maybe he’ll get to it later, too. It is such a Haven Falls thing to do. He has his head down when Agent Gilbert thanks him–and smiles, faint at a corner, like a smudge of shadow.
“That’s what officers do–but also not, since I wasn’t in jurisdiction for it… so I guess, I was doing out of civic duty.” He turns to look at the FBI agent and then lets himself smile without pretense of professionalism. It’s broad and kind. “It’s the right thing to do.” Blaine doesn’t mind that he has to be punished for it if it meant that someone is safe. Agent Gilbert included.
Blaine shakes his head and looks over beyond the agent, to the other officers working. “Anyone else would have helped, no big.” Blaine quickly adds on, feeling embarrassed by the gratitude. His hand waves it off.
Biting at the inside of his cheek, Blaine nods in jest before that fleeting moment is shoved by the expectation of business. “This isn’t the worst you’ve gone through? Sweet Lord, you’re not secretly a masochist, are you?” Blaine grins to show that he’s joking as well.
There is a pause and Blaine doesn’t know how to fill it. Judging by the time on the clock, it’s roughly the start of casework, so he just gives a casual shrug before turning his chair some. That’s enough procrastination–DeLario won’t be happy seeing him chat away instead of following orders.
“Well, then. Best of luck on your investigation.” Blaine says, perhaps a little sullenly in his tone. Lucky Agent Gilbert. He gets a cool boss that lets him investigate in the field and everything.]
[Lettuce still is the center of their conversation, and even if Elliott is surprised he is also happy. He can’t help notice how big and honest Anderson’s smile is, and he correspond the gesture with an equally honest smile. He can’t deny part of his attitude change towards the detective was because of Wally, but now it was more because what Anderson did by himself.
He doesn’t want to start a fight, so he stops his words before denying what Blaine just said “Not everyone would have helped me, specially people from this department” he thinks. After that, he just nods, accepting without arguing what Anderson says, but really thinking he shouldn’t be so modest.
When the detective jokes about masochism Elliott is so surprised he doesn’t even know what to answer for a moment. “You look too excited to know the answer of that question” he jokes “Would you want me to be?” he winks trying to keep a straight face but he eventually laughs.
The awkward silence makes Elliott realize he probably crossed a line “If you thought the checking me out joke wasn’t appropiate, why the hell a flirty masochism joke would be?” he thinks and mentally face palm himself. “I’m... I’m not, I’m not a masochist” he feels the need to clarify, even if it’s too late and almost sound ridiculous.
Silence again.
This time Anderson is the one breaking it and seems to be back to a profesional mood. Elliott chuckles, if something can be sure about Detective Anderson is that he works hard and has discipline. “Yeah... thanks, I hope your work isn’t so bad” he taps one of the folders over the table as he starts walking away “ah... wait... I actually wanted to ask you...” He sees himself, as if he was outside his body, walking back and moving near the table again, why he was doing that? he could ask DeLario about the case, but he found himself wanting to talk with Anderson a little more “Do you know if there is anything new about the guy who attacked me? Is he still here?”]

headdetectiveanderson:
[It isn’t without a doubt that Blaine is on edge. Pritchard and Keller’s snooty comment aside, Blaine is well-acquainted with the now-known fact that Agent Gilbert is gay. Blaine understands a second later that he’s treating Agent Gilbert unfairly, like how the officers and even some townspeople treat Blaine himself unfairly, but he’s worried that anything he does will be seen as a slight against the Agent or some kind of… sexual interest. It was easier before when he internally accused the FBI Agent to be pretending to be gay whilst undercover, but now? Blaine is weirdly calling back that he once found “Mitch” physically attractive.
But Agent Gilbert. He’s different. Blaine can’t help chuckling at the silly remark. “Fresh. As lettuce. Really? Well, a lot of vegetables nowadays are souped with antibiotics, so you might not be too far off from a common marketplace Romaine.” Blaine glibs, feeling more relaxed. He places his cup back down onto his table and scoots it away. Begone, vile drink!
“My excuse has to be being caged up here like a child in time out. Commissioner DeLario’s not letting me go on active duty unless I finish digitizing all of the precinct’s files from last two months. And I don’t know if you noticed this, but aside from Joanne, I’m the only one who kind of is from the technological era.” Blaine winks as a joke, but it is unintentionally flirty. He quickly blinks both eyes so that Agent Gilbert doesn’t have the wrong idea. Maybe he’ll think Blaine had an eye-spasm.
“Anyway… so… aren’t the FBI going to assign you away or something?” Blaine’s voice hardens as it decreases into a low whisper. Agent Gilbert was attacked. No ands, ifs, or buts about it. Blaine doesn’t know the protocol but he would have thought that the FBI would be not pleased in hearing how difficult Haven Falls is.]
[Elliott chuckles again, he likes this new discovery, Anderson is actually a nice and funny guy “Then I guess I’m as good as your common supermarket lettuce” he shrugs wondering how a week ago they were fighting over the color of a suit but now they were talking about lettuce as if it was the most normal topic to talk about.
He has to stop himself from laughing again when Blaine does a weird thing with his eyes, not sure what was going on, he just keeps the conversation going pretending he didn’t see anything.
“Really?” he asks confused but then he realizes, even if for him it was the best thing that could happen that Blaine appeared at Vines when he did, for DeLario it was a terrible thing to do since it was the exact opposite of what he told Blaine to do “I understand why he would do that but still... I’m very grateful for what you did” he says feeling it is the first time he thanks him properly.
“Oh, wow, I knew you wanted me gone, but that’s just rude” he joked “I’m... no” he says more serious “I informed my superior but he knows perfectly as I do that I’ve been worst than this...” he explained normally “but I’ve never left a case in the middle of the investigation, and this one won’t be an exception” he says and it’s very clear he means it.]
[01.27.15.] -- 9:22 AM
headdetectiveanderson:
[A rush of heat stemming from hyper-awareness of how close the agent is has Blaine blank out for a second when he lowers the newspaper. Looking from afar Blaine is okay with, but the proximity now is different. It’s hard to imagine that Blaine has defended this Fed Suit from a possible crime just a few days ago.
Agent Gilbert is standing, that’s a relief, but a small wrap around the temples still suggests the man’s weakened condition. “Oil prices are going down,” Blaine says, remembering the first page. He wonders if Agent Gilbert cares for such news about gas.
Gently scanning over the Agent’s body, Blaine checks for any injuries but then realization over how his actions look has Blaine clear his throat and dart his eyes down. A warmth lines around the apples of his cheeks. He tilts his head down.
He clears his throat. A second time. “Agent Gilbert… How are you feeling?” He asks, lifting up his chin when he feels more assured in his ability to keep himself from becoming awkward. But the voice comes out a tired wobble. And his throat feels so dry.
Blaine, fearing his voice will crack (making him appear even more prepubescent than he gets flack for at the office), reaches for his coffee cup and drinks it. Immediately, Blaine pulls a face he has no control of. It is disgustingly tepid. However as spitting it back out would be disgusting-er, Blaine forces it down.]
[Elliott looks at Blaine and can’t stop himself from smiling surprised and confused about what he is witnessing. Detective Anderson chocking on his words and blushing? He must had hit his head harder than he thought. But it isn’t that, it is actually happening.
“I see..” he answers with a chuckled “good... good...” he tries not to laugh as he realizes what Blaine is doing next “Are you checking me out?” he thinks but he doesn’t actually ask him, he doesn’t feel they are close enough or at all to joke like that with him and it could be awkward, so he only bites his lower lip and tries to not start laughing.
“I’m fresh as a lettuce” he answers with a happy sigh “well, as a lettuce that has been drugged” he chuckles finally “And you? Are you feeling alright?” he asks mockingly raising his eyebrow without stop smiling.
He observes Blaine nervously drink his coffee and chuckles again “I’m the one who just got out of the hospital, what’s your excuse?” he jokes again.]
[01.27.15.] -- 9:20 AM
headdetectiveanderson:
[Joanne’s voice isn’t by far the quietest, and Blaine can pick up the rougher timbre of Agent Gilbert’s voice over the twinkling chime tones that is Joanne. Hiding his obvious curiosity, Blaine raises the newspaper up to cover half of his face, shielding it as he carefully looks by the paper to… lets say, casually observe their interaction.
She’s fetching Agent Gilbert coffee. An irksome prickle crosses over Blaine’s forehead. The station coffee that they have out in the pot cannot be described as coffee. And she’s giving that to the Fed Suit? With his city tastes? He might as well call the town backward.
He continues to watch the two, half-wanting to stop because it’s strangely annoying, but again, that need to understand is flaring up and Blaine was never good at holding back.]
[Elliott didn’t know much about Joanne, mostly because always when they talked she asked a lot of questions and didn’t let him really finish one answer when she was asking another, but she seemed like a nice girl and Elliott appreciated their conversations meanwhile he waited in the police office. She made him disconnect for a few minutes and feel he was just chatting with Dani back home.
But this time something distracted him from Joanne, apart from the sudden taste of the terrible coffee that made him question why he even accepted it every time, but also someone looking at them at the other side of the room. He casually looked around just to see Blaine hiding behind a newspaper and smiled, the detective had attitude and looked like a serious guy and see him doing that was a surprise... Elliott chuckled. “I’m sorry, Joanne” he said “let’s talk later I have to...” he looked at Blaine’s table and Joanne nodded.
Elliott walked towards Blaine and smiled looking over to see his face behind the newspaper “Any good news?” he asked.]
[01.27.15.] -- 9:17 AM
[Blaine’s reading the crossword puzzle for the third time although he has finished it. It’s Tuesday at the office and the day has never been so dull since his release from the hospital. As suspected, Commissioner DeLario chews him out on Monday–citing major and minor reasons as to why Blaine should be suspended from the force, but also deciding that Blaine is to stay at the precinct until he can do his work without supervision. Blaine’s not too mad, at least he’s not at home with nothing to do. Work gives him some purpose, but…
“Sad that your boyfriend’s not here yet?” Pritchard sneers as he passes by, and Keller knocks off some papers off Blaine’s desk. Blaine glares at them but they laugh as they walk off. Dicks.
But there’s a little sense of truth to their words. Blaine’s been a bit down that the agent hasn’t recovered. It was awful seeing what happened to him, and Blaine’s just being a good police officer. He wants to know if Agent Gilbert’ll be alright. Blaine had tried asking DeLario but no luck. The Commissioner is a man of sewn lips when it comes to the FBI agent.
The door rings and Blaine’s head picks up to see who could be coming in and–oh, just… a patrol officer. Blaine sighs and checks his answer for the crossword again.]
[It was the first morning Elliott woke up on the motel room’s bed after a few days at the hospital, he could say he missed the comfortable soft bed there but he was also glad he was out and back to work. During those few days he felt useless and he couldn’t wait to start investigating again.
After a quick shower he gets ready with a forest green suit and a black shirt matching his black shoes. He gets out of the motel room and starts feeling the cold and humid climate, he then rubs his hands together and starts walking toward the police station.
He doesn’t know what to expect when he gets there, he isn’t waiting for anyone to celebrate him coming back or even notice, so he is surprised when he is greeted at the door by the adorable and nervous secretary, Joanne Clearbait.
As he walks in she walks by his side and she offers him a cup of coffee with a smile and trembling hands asking “Are you alright? I heard about what happened” He is surprised but he can hide this behind a smile trying to be nice to the only person who has been nice to him since he arrived to the city.
“Thank you, yes, I’m fine, there’s no need to worry” he shook his head “I’m totally recovered”
“Oh, I’m glad” she says mildly blushing as she touches her hair repeatedly “Do you take it with sugar?” she points the coffee “Yes, just one” he answers awkwardly, he really doesn’t like making other people bring him stuff like he was somebody important, but he can’t even say anything when she is bringing the coffee to him, so he just accept it and smiles again “Thank you.”]
