What's Spectre of the Lost?
Spectre of the Lost, also known as Spectre or as SotL, is a D&D campaign i started in... 2024? For a few friends over discord. It's an evolution of an earlier in person campaign called Spectre of Inconvenience.
It follows a team of (mostly) undead humanoids as they investigate a series of strange events- people dying under mysterious circumstances, and a sharp increase in the number of dead coming back to life. They soon discover that this is the work of a cult called The Vulture Society, which has a goal to kill and revive people in order to become a majority in society. Now the party is tasked with finding the cult, weeding them out, and stopping them.
Edith is thirty years old, undead, and fucking pissed. Everything was fine, she was going on a date with her boyfriend, and the next thing she's bleeding in the snow. Her chest is an empty hole- her heart has quite literally been stolen. All she's left with is a silver bracelet from her boyfriend (and several spells to keep her body from decomposing or looking overly dead). She needs to find the bastard and get him.
Nox is... genuinely just baffled by everything going on right now. For eons he's up there with the gods, processing souls. Then he gets attached to ONE mortal, screws up the spell, and now he's on the ground rotting. Desperate, he clings to anyone and anything that might get him back home where he belongs(???).
Eden had finally figured it out. Finally found someone who wouldn't leave. Until they wake up to twin holes in their neck and an empty room with nothing but a note left behind. Now, they have to navigate suddenly being a vampire.
Aenon has bounced from group to group. Boisterous and cheerful, she never understood why no one wanted to be her friend for very long. At the very least, she's got her cool amulet, and the cacophony of voices within it. And soon enough she finds a group of friends who care for her and protect her! But... one of the voices doesn't seem too happy with that.
Lavender was travelling alone through a fae realm when they ran into a pack of mortals. When they busted out of that fae realm, they decided to follow. They're certainly.... interesting, to say the least.
Most of these characters don't really come up in AUs and on this blog- Edith and Nox, and various characters from their backstories, are our main characters here.
