one of my deltarune analysis pet peeves is when someone is trying to dissect the morality of a darkener (or darkeners) and say "they can kill you" as proof of Badness Level. because the second you start applying that lens to the rest of the game, the entire story falls apart and im not exaggerating. literally like 90% of the darkeners can cause a game over. they're all murderers. now what.

toby is a good writer, man, he is very good at setting the mood of a battle to let you know exactly how serious it's to be treated. with music, with battle mechanics, with character motivation, etc etc-- there's so much context!! why are we ignoring every single mood-setting tool being deployed!! blease.
