Part 1 - Faithful
Words-1952
Pairing Ransom Dysdale x F!reader.
Sitting in my car, thinking about what I had just done. Leaving the life that I had for the past 4 years. Tears streaming down my face, I know what I did was right. Leaving Ransom after everything he has done. I should’ve known after everyone warned about our relationship. How he has cheated in his past relationships, how manipulative and controlling he can be, and how batshit crazy his family can be. I should’ve listened to everyone, they warned me and I didn’t even care to listen. I was too in love with him.
“Jesus how fucking stupid can I be,” I said to myself. I look at myself in the rearview mirror, wiping my tears away. Taking a moment, thinking where to go from here. “Shit, I need to get fucking drunk.” I gave myself a pitiful laugh. Picking up my phone, looking at the time. It’s 3:21 p.m. Too early to drink but shit the rest of my life is going to hell so why should I care now. Stepping out of my car looking up at the bar sign, I didn’t even realize that I drove myself here. Noticing that I had been here before, a long time ago.
Dark, Inc. Brewery, a new bar that opened up on Lake Street, was down the block from my office building. My co-workers decided to go there for a Halloween party that my company was throwing. For what? I’m not sure but they did want everyone who works there to be there, from the janitors to people who oversee everyone else. The party starts at 8 tonight so I should probably go home and get dressed for this.
Arriving at my apartment building which was about 15 minutes away from the bar, I knew I would make it there in time if I wanted to stay at home for a bit. Stepping out of my car, grabbed my purse, and pulled my keys out of the ignition. Walking up to the entrance, putting in my apartment code so I could enter. 105669. I laugh as I enter the last two digits. “Nice,” I whisper to myself.
I pushed the door to let myself in, walking to the mailboxes. I noticed someone standing next to my mailbox, he looked lost. “Hello? Do you need help?” I asked him.
“Yeah actually.” He laughs out. “I’m trying to get this stupid key to work on my mailbox.”
“Oh, are you new to the building?” I asked him, but his centrality doesn’t look familiar to me.
“Yeah, just moved in today,” He answered me. “I’m Ari Levinson.”
“(Y/N) (L/N). What room are you in?” I answer back.
“258,” Ari told me, looking down to make eye contact.
“Oh cool, we’re neighbors.” I looked back. “Well, you have been putting your key into my mailbox.” I laughed.
“Oh,” He whisper out then laughed. “Well, that makes sense, thank you.” Ari opens up his mailbox without a problem.
“No problem,” I replied. Getting my mail out of the compartment. “I’ll see you around Ari.”
“Yeah, see you later (Y/N).” He said to me, I waved bye and made my way to the elevator. I pressed the up button and waited, looking around the lobby area. I see Ari walking out of the building, he walks to a black motorcycle. The elevator door opened, I walked in and pressed 4. The fourth floor is where my apartment is, there are only 3 people including me living on that floor, well now 4. They are a couple that lives on the far end of the hallway. I never mind them but being just us on the floor, I could hear everything that they scream about. They are always fighting so it is nice to have someone new on the floor. The elevator doors opened again, I exited and walked to my door, hearing meowing from behind it. I laugh and unlock it.
“Hello Eris,” I said to my cat, bending over to pet her. She was a black Maine coon cat with bright blue and green eyes. I named her after the Greek goddess of discord. From what trouble she caused as a kitten I knew that the name would fit her well. I let her lead me into the kitchen, she jumped onto the counter right by her food bowl.
“ Well, I guess I should feed you before I go,” I said to her as I got her food bowl and filled it up. Eris went to eat while I made my way to my bedroom. I looked at my phone to see what time it was while entering my room. It’s 7 right now, I have maybe 30 minutes to get ready if I want to be early. Shit, let’s just get this party over with. I went into my closet and picked out a simple satin shirt with black pants, after putting them on I looked into the mirror and checked myself out.
“Damn I look good.” I smile at myself, I pick out a pair of shoes that would match the outfit. I walk out of the room and move towards the door and grab my coat and my purse. I felt a brush upside my leg and looked down, it was Eris. “Be good baby, I’ll be back tonight.” I lent down to pet her.
Heading out the door, locking it behind me. I walked to the end of the hallway to the elevator. I pressed the lobby button, it lit up. It’s quiet on the floor, the other neighbors must be out, it’s nice.
Ding!
The elevator doors open, and speak of the devil, there they are. You could tell that both of them are about to explode. I moved to the side so they could exit the elevator. They walk past me but one of them makes straight eye contact and they don’t break till they reach their door. Weird.
Entering the lobby, I walked out the front doors, all the cars that are normally there are there. Including the new neighbor, Ari’s motorcycle. He must have come back while I was upstairs. Getting in and starting the car, it’s 7:45 pm, 15 minutes to get there.
Pulling in front of the bar looks like I’m one of the last ones to show up. After getting out of the car and making sure it was locked, I made my way up to the entrance of the bar. Opening the front doors, it looks like our party was in the back. I started walking up to them when I saw a man, who looked too rich to be there, to be in this part of town. He caught my eye, looking like he just wanted to lose himself in his drinks.
I walk up behind Elena, the HR lady. “Hey, Elena. What’s with the party?”
“I don’t know and by the looks of it, no one else knows either.” She replies. “Considering that they’re throwing a party, hopefully, it is for good reason.”
“Yeah, hopefully. I’m going to get a drink, do you want anything?” I asked her.
“Just a coke please,” Elena answered back. I nodded and made my way to the bar.
“Two cokes and a shot of whiskey please,” I told the bartender, pulling out my wallet.
“I got it.” I heard it next to me, turning my head to look at the man. It was the one from earlier.
“Thanks.” I smile at him.
“Any chance to buy a pretty girl a drink. I’m Ransom Drysdale .” He said while extending his hand to shake. Drysdale that name sounds familiar.
“(Y/N).” I took his hand and shook it. “Thanks for the drinks.”
"So (Y/N), what are you doing here?" He asks me while sipping on his drink.
"My work is throwing a party I guess." I turn to look at him, "What about you?" I smiled and him. He's not too bad looking, actually quite handsome.
"Weird, the same thing." He laughs out.
"Oh really now?" I giggle, "What exactly do you do Mr. Drysdale?"
"I work in my family business," Ransom answers me.
"Huh, that must be nice," I reply as the drinks slide in front of me. I thank the bartender and pick up the drinks. "Well, it was nice to meet you, Mr. Drysdale." I nodded and walk back to Elena.
"Nice to meet you too Miss (L/N)" He calls out to me.
I stop in my tracks, how does he know my last name. I look back at him, he smiles at me. Nothing weird or terrifying about that smile. I must have told him when I introduce myself. I turn back around and head back to Elena.
About an hour later, my boss headed up the little stage that they use for karaoke nights.
"Everyone! Everyone can I have your attention please!" She yells out, the crowd calms down and looks towards the stage."The reason that I call this party is that I have good news. Our company is now part of Drysdale Publishing!"
Everyone started cheering, Drysdale I knew I recognized the name.
"Everyone please welcome Ransom Drysdale! He'll be watching over us for the time being." My boss announce while he was walking onto the stage.
"Hello, it's nice to meet you all and I'm excited to be a part of this. I hope that everyone has a good time. And don't worry about paying. Everything is one!" Ransom yelled out into the crowd. Everyone started yelling with excitement as they rush to the bar. I stay in my seat, watching him get off the stage and walk toward me.
"So Mr. Drysdale, you are my new boss from the looks of it," I said as I look up at him.
"I'm your boss boss." He smiles down at me.
"So this is how you knew my last name?" I asked him while he pull out a chair and seats down.
"Yeah, your boss said that you are the best of the best." He whispers to me, not wanting to have everyone hear him. I smile at the compliment.
"Thank you," I whisper back.
"I have a question that I've been wanting to ask you all night," He said to me, getting closer.
"Yeah well, what that Mr. Dysdale?" I whisper, bringing my face closer to his.
"God I love it when you call me that." He laughs out. "How about we go on a date sometime?"
"I would love that."
~Present Time~
Dark, Inc. Brewery, I knew I recognized the. It's the bar we met. I groaned. why did I drive here? Was I hoping to see him here? I don't know and I don't care at this moment. All I know is that I want to get fucking drunk and forget everything.
Opened the door and looked around. Nothing has changed, the same stage was there with the same karaoke machine. The same chair and tables. Nobody's here except a few people sitting away from each other, who just want to fade away from existence. I want to do the same thing.
Made my way to the bar, sitting on the stool. "Just give me the strongest drink that you have," I told the bartender as I put my head on the bar.
"Sure." He responded. After a couple of minutes, I hear the glass against the bar top.
"Thanks," I whisper out before the chug whatever was in that glass.
"No problem (Y/N)." The bartender responded. I pulled my eyebrows together in confusion. Finally, look up at him.
"Ari?"
"Hi (Y/N)."
