- A Night of Knowing Nothing
2021
Day Two - The last book I finished is Babel. Without a doubt, it’s the most important dark academia book to read if you are interested in this genre. The criticism, the setting, the characters and the whole book is just phenomenally done. While reading it I was just completely in awe that one singular person wrote this book. Like, in a YEAR. I’m manifesting a Victoire sequel or a Griffin prequel 🕯

pinned quote of the week 8/30
“they slipped briskly into an intimacy from which they never recovered.”
This is a quote from Fitzgerald's novel, “this side of paradise”, before reading the book, I presumed the quote was taken out a romantic context between two lovers who inexorably change one another before being forced apart, or drifting away. it is actually referring to the relationship between monsignor darcy and main character amory blaine. where two people met and formed an intimacy that one can never truly forget. an intimacy of seeing one another truly and completely. it altered them. i would hope to experience something like that one day.
a mini used book haul!! some classics, emma - jane austen, the picture of dorian gray - oscar wilde, and lovely bones - alice sebold, and the guernsey literary and the potato peel society - mary ann shaffer & annie barrows.
