@spencerwentworth
i am afraid that if i open myself i will not stop pouring. (why do i fear becoming a river. what mountain gave me such shame.)
Jamie Oliveira, “Erosion” (via wordsnquotes)
foxwcrthy:
“Jesus…” Mariah muttered, shaking her head as she spotted the crowd that had formed around the Kennedy property. She had come to check on the family of her honorary daughter in law but judging by the look of police tape, she wasn’t getting anywhere near them. “Nothing fails to draw a crowd here in Florence, does it?”
“Well, I mean. It’s not like a lot happens around town, anyway. Might as well bask in that Schadenfreude, even if half of these people won’t admit that’s kind of what they’re doing.” He knew it might be kind of stupid, to show up at the property of a family he’d made his distaste for pretty apparent, but curiosity had gotten the better of him.
I chipped my tooth last night and I think it’s because I was on coke
The sugar and chemicals in coke are really bad for your teeth…. Why would you put something in your body that you can use to clean pennies and toilet bowls?
Cocaine
@lemonkennedy: how mature.
@swentworth: almost as mature as involving yourself in affairs that don't pertain to you!! your daughter is an adult. she can handle herself.
@swentworth: your family must be so proud to see you've got nothing better to do than micromanage your children and waste police resources!! :)
@lemonkennedy: look i don't know how the private chat thingie works on twitter, that is why it was public
@lemonkennedy: but to be honest, i found a guy smashing a gravestone. anyone would have called the cops!
@lemonkennedy: also, if you have something to say to me, talk to me. not my son.
@swentworth: okay!! you're a huge bitch, leave my brother alone, aaaaaaand i hope you choke :)
@swentworth: also, there's a thing called 'texting' it's private. you should try it.
@kennedaddy: say shit about my mom one more time, buddy, I fucken dare you. My mom hasn't said anything that isn't true. Your fuckhead brother tried to break your daddy's headstone.
@kennedaddy: your fuckhead brother seems to be obsessed with my sister from what I hear, so maybe you need to take care of your own some more.
@kennedaddy: You're the one trying shit, asshole.
@swentworth: our father was an abusive lying piece of shit. my brother isn't a threat to anyone. she called the cops because she doesn't like him. plain and simple.
@swentworth: which really is stupid bc isn't your sister 22? as in, a fucking adult? let her handle her own shit
@swentworth: your mother needs to learn to mind HER OWN business and then maybe she wouldn't be such a massive bitch
@kennedaddy: @me bro. I don't know your name either tbh, like for real tho. It's a free country, freedom of speech and all that shit.
@swentworth: i mean, i was talking about your trailer trash mom but w/e. freedom of speech means the government can't do shit
@swentworth: it doesn't mean i can't request u all shut the fuck up :) i don't wanna hate u. ur a solid guy. but don't try me.
@dwentworth: I dont care what some simpleton with 30 kids thinks of me Spence.
@swentworth: and normally i let it go. but calling the cops and talking shit online like a teenager is ridiculous.
@hotaruito: oh... mrs. kennedy getting dragged. she has guns bro.
@swentworth: and? guns are a cop out for weak people to feel strong. im not scared of some hick with a shotgun lmao
@hotaruito: ... ok? why so agressive, man
@swentworth: bc i don't appreciate supposed adults slinging around buzzwords and insults about my family on public platforms ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@swentworth: pro tip: if you're not in the family keep our names out of your fucking mouth :)

Playing with the handle of the hammer, he let the head of it come to rest between his feet. His brother had a point but it didn't take away the urge to smash the stone to bits and so he brought it up again, aiming it for a moment before letting it hit hard right in the center of the stone. “I beg to differ.” He replied after a moment, looking over the cracked stone before back at Spencer. “He was a shit fucking man. He was a shit fucking dad and he doesnt deserve flowers or photos or the town idolizing him like he was some fucking God.” Though he knew he didn't have to tell Spencer, it still felt good to get it out. “I'm glad he is dead. I'm glad he… I don't have to worry about his shushing me anymore or sending me away or making me sit at the dinner table for hours after everyone else left to prove the point that he could. I was a good fucking son. I was a…” His voice cracked again and he blinked back tears he didn't want to fall. “I was a great son.”
God, did Spencer know how that stung. Granted, he’d found his own ways to cope when he’d found himself cast aside. And his had been...a lot worse than Damien’s. Though, in a way, Damien’s apathy could be read as a self destruction of sorts. They were both disasters. Products of absolutely A+ parenting. “I know you were. Damien, I know this...hurts. Seeing everyone fall into his facade about being this great father, even though on top of never treating us-- er, well, you especially-- well, he was a lying, cheating scumbag. And...I wish I could promise you some way to make it right. But the reality is the only thing you can do is not end up a heartless, lying piece of shit. He’s dead, so all you can do is not end up like him, and get the hell out of this stupid town at some point. This town doesn’t give a shit about us, or what we dealt with.”
damienwentworth:
Trying to will himself to bash the stone, he let out a small huff irritated that this proving to be harder than he thought. He wasnt rethinking it by any means but as he stood here in front of the grave that he had been sure he would never visit, he couldnt help the pain in his chest. Hearing his brother, his hands clenched the handle tighter and he let out a small sniffle. “I dont care.” His voice unsure, softer than he had ever let it fall too since he had taken on the heartless image. He let his grip loosely a bit on the hammer before looking over his shoulder at Spencer. “Why does he get to be remembered as a saint? Wh-why does he not have to face backlash for his actions? Why do…” He stopped as his voice broke, turning back to the grave.
He walked closer, completely confident he was safe in doing so. Damien wasn’t dangerous, he was just. Sad, apparently. Spencer could really never tell exactly what Damien was feeling, but right now he just sounded sad. He sounded small. He hadn’t felt particularly protective of Damien in years, but. He understood this much, at least. He hated the way people talked about their father now, but saying anything would make him the bad guy here. “I mean, I can give you an answer. But it’s a shitty one, and you know that. It’s not fair. But you’re not gonna feel better doing this. Get as mad as you want, but. When the other person’s dead, it’ll only fuck you up.”
damienwentworth:
All the gossip and then the truths about his father had burnt away inside Damien. How dare the town think of him as a saint when he was an abusive ant of a man that cared more for his company that his family? So Damien drove to the cemetery, trying to hide the shaking in his hands as he parked and grabbed out his bag and sledgehammer. Headed to his dads plot, he lingered at it for a moment. He had never seen it in person before. It was strange how easily he felt nothing. Putting his bag down, he grabbed out a trash bag, removing everything from the grave that others had left. Flowers, pictures, candles; anything anyone had felt his father would have liked. Once it was clear, he shifted to pick up the hammer, steadying it in his hands.
Spencer’s first thought was that he was gonna kill this kid. Damien was largely harmless, other than the attitude, but neither his brother nor the sledgehammer were in the house, and that wasn’t good. He didn’t feel like bailing him out of jail or --with some of the townspeople’s opinions of him-- picking him up from the hospital, so he’d have to find him. Lo and behold, he didn’t have to go too far. He pulled into the cemetery, parking behind his brother’s car. So, he was here for their dad, then. He trekked up the small hill, which definitely contributed to the way he sounded when he found his brother.
“Damien.” Somewhere between out of breath and exasperated. “What’re you doing? Why aren’t you doing it at night or something? You’re gonna get caught like this.”
