I think Kali is playing the “logical adult” now that she’s found El and the gang
My mouth was on the floor in the showing of Axel go down, and the backstory of her escape attempt.
And again people are dogging on her like;
“she’s acting suspicious” “I don’t trust her at all” or my favorite, “why bring back the worst character”
One, this young woman was traumatized arguably more than Eleven was.
Used for Bio Medicine and the horrible Breeding Program to make more numbers? AFTER they found her, killed her friends/loved ones IN FRONT OF HER, shaved her hair which gave her power in her own unique appearence choices after being shaved for the lab, and even through all of those things, she STILL escaped, WITH HER BARE HANDS. (And a scalpel and gun)
If she knew she was in the upside down, it would’ve been different yes but Kali is a badass. She’s hardened to the world that hurt her, scorned her, and used and abused her. I would act that way to protect someone I care about (El) too.
They are sisters. She doesn’t want what happened to her to happen to El, probably the only person alive who knows what Kali went through.
Kali isn’t suspicious to me. I don’t think she’s gonna turn evil either. I don’t think she’s working for or will work for Vecna. And I don’t think the major plot twist is Kali is the mind flayer either.
Kali is a number that stole her freedom back and then had everything taken away from her more than three times.
Kali is badass enough to be held behind inhibitors, strapped down, and drugged JUST so they have a chance of controlling her.
Kali doesn’t want El to sacrifice herself. She wants them both to finish a job neither of them started, which may result in their deaths, but spares the lives of THE WORLD.
Kali understands the mission in black and white. She is the logic.
8 is the number of balance and new beginnings.
If Kali believes her end will bring about the end of other suffering, then that is her ending and beginning.
She is the balance that is making eleven realize just how special she really is. She reminds El that she is someone that can put a stop to the Hawkins story, because no one’s ever been so close.
She also is a realist that knows, “hey, these are the facts and they are hard and they hurt, but I’m not lying to you.”
Kali is a great character. And I stand ten toes down on this statement.
