Just started the Aru Shah series and—
This book is fucking hilarious why isn’t it more popular
aru shah is about 7000 times stronger than i am because what do you mean she spends her whole life being insulted, belitted, made fun of, being the butt of the joke, ignored, and convinced time and time again that she's somehow inherently inadequate to the point where she becomes a (now reformed) pathological liar. and then she learns there's something special about her and she CONTINUES to be insulted etc even by her sisters, crush, a literal compliment fountain, and every person they stumble across. and then in nectar of immortality when multiple people see her strengths in listening and telling stories and imagination for what they are, she's already so convinced she's inherently less than or less special than the others that she doesn't believe them. by nectar of immortality, she has spent 15 years being made fun of and ignored. she's spent 15 years thinking no one has faith in or expects anything of her DESPITE THE FACT she's one of the saviors of the world. and yet through every single insult and joke and embarassing moment, she gets back up and saves the entire fucking world. i have never seen such an accurate portrayal of the indian american teenage girl experience (as i went through it. obviously there's different experiences out there and obviously i never had to save the world). arundhati shah the character that you are
Another unoriginal post, because the other one got completed in no time: if this post gets 1000 notes by February 2nd I will write a full draft to my aru Shah fanfic. Um, that's about it. Have a good day:)
Edit: don't know how you guys got it to this much already, but hopefully it won't go up much from here
Edit again: haha only 2 days left good luck!
As an Indian, words can’t describe how much the representation in Aru Shah means to me. I didn’t realize just how badly I needed representation that I actually saw myself in until the potatoes. Unlike so much “representation,” they are not made out to be super stereotypical or alien-like, they are written like real people.
SOMEONE PLEASE DRAW AIDEN ACHARAYA AS THIS ALBUM COVER PLEASE IM BEGGING
