Levi made a face back. “Sitting in these little baby trees isn’t anything stupid,” he countered. “They’re barely off the ground. Like…that one I was in is probably only like…fifty feet off the ground at the top, and I can’t even make it up there.” Honestly, if they could have such tall buildings, they should have taller trees. “I was only like…twenty-five feet up.”

Maggie crossed her arms over her chest and nodded slowly. “Kid, I’m gonna be honest with you. I really don’t care about the technicalities of how high the tree is,” She snorted. “All I’m sayin’ is, don’t drop shit on people, a’ight? Nice.”

“You mean the professionals like you?” She grinned nudging her. “I mean everyone needs a back up singer though! I get it though, right right.. we gotta rest your vocal cords.” she laughed softly. “Oh! Yes! I could really go for an apple pie.”

“I mean,” Maggie pursed her lips. There was a brief glimpse of a smug look on her face. “I wasn’t talking about myself but if you say so,” She chuckled and then slowly turned. “I’m totally down for baking an apple pie. You’re gonna have to lead though. You’re whizz baker.” Maggie reached over and patted her sister’s shoulder. “Let’s go, hot stuff.”

Maggie blinked before raising her eyebrows. “Traditionally it’s actually a book, not a telephone. Hence why I said book. Books are usually used for posture training. I’m not an idiot.”

Levi laughed as he scooped his notebook up from the ground. “Well, there must be some other people around that like to do their notes in trees, then. Glad I’m not weird,” he joked. “Seriously, though, it didn’t hit you that hard?” It wasn’t like he was coming to hang in Central Park to cause concussions.

Maggie pulled a face, nodding as he spoke. “Yeah. Totally fuckin’ normal,” She snorted. “Well I can still form a sentence so I’m fairly certain that I’m probably fine,” Maggie rubbed her head once more before tucking her hands away. “If you’re gonna be stupid and sit in trees, you should be a bit more mindful.”

Maggie huffed one last time before she couldn’t take it anymore. Friendliness came in handy when it came to these sorts of things so she forced a small smile onto her face. The dark-haired woman looked up from her screen to the person sat at the table across from her. “Hi. Excuse me. Hi. Um --- You’re eating quite loudly? And I’m trying to get some research done. And you’re being really distracting. Is there anyway you could eat a little quieter? Thanks.”

He’d…dropped his notebook from the tree he’d been sitting in. Again. Oops. Except this time, he’d heard an ‘ow’, or something like it. Double oops. Grimacing, Levi dropped from his place on a branch, and stood in front of whoever he’d dropped his stuff on. “My b, there was a squirrel being a total dick. You good?”

Maggie had been taking a breather, out for a walk. She had a long shift ahead of her so wanted to make sure she was as wide awake as possible. The book that hit her on the head certainly helped with that. “Ow - Shit!” She grunted, rubbing her head. When someone dropped in front of her, Maggie was visibly started. Her head was still tangled in her hair, rubbing at the sore spot. “Of course I’m okay. Being conked on the head with a book from a tree randomly - Totally normal part of my day.”

“Well it’s a bunch of us gals… although guys are totally welcome too, we’ve just not really had any come. We read a book - one person chooses one every week. Allie chose last week and she picked Little Women. Which is… a choice. But we’re not allowed to judge other people’s choices. That’s like an unspoken rule. And then we sit around and chat about the book and like what we thought and we eat a lot of food.”

As the woman explained everything again, Maggie narrowed her eyes. She tried her best to hide her expression. It wasn’t done so very successfully though. “You know what,” She sighed, flashing a smile. “If we can do it all with wine, I’m there. Bring some bottles, and I’m there.”

Maggie sighed and ran a hand over her face. “Yeah. Let’s leave the song to the king. You know what -- Why don’t we leave singing to the professionals?” She smiled. “We could do something else. Why don’t we bake something?”

You know that’s a great Elvis song, can’t we just sing one more? Oh come on, Maggie!” She beamed towards her. “We can do at least one more song together. We’re a duet dream team.”

“Something’s certainly burning but it ain’t their love,” Maggie tilted her head as she spoke. Shifting from where she was, the brunette walked over and dropped onto the couch. “It is a great Elvis song and that’s why we should leave it to Elvis to sing, yaknow?” Mag offered a smile in Grace’s direction.
