Kim Kitsuragi is a fascinating character because there's not that much fun or interesting or compelling about him. And yet somehow over the course of playing Disco Elysium the game rewires your fucking brain around him. He's the middest man you've ever seen in both appearance and personality but at some point he says something kind to you or something critical of you and you feel like you just got hit by a truck and you need his approval like you need oxygen and like how tf did this happen. what are you

I get what you mean, but Kim being "not interesting and compelling" is not....true? At all? Kim is one of the most interesting characters in the game!!!

He is kind, patient but also blunt and sarcastic. He is a spoilsport. He is competitive and petty. He can deliver the funniest things in a complete dedpan voice

He likes sewing, machinery, TipTop, franconigerian figurines, board games. He is a "torque dork". He stole spinners to decorate his car. He listens to Speedfreaks but denies it to his very grave to Harry even it's so obvious. Because he is a creature of pride and afraid of becoming a joke

He is a moralist, but wears a revolutionary pilot cosplay on his job. He cares deeply about people but is uncomfortable dealing with emotions. He is rational and professional but agrees to play board games during the murder investigation or shoot the body down despite his bad eyesight

He likes Harry. He gives him secret smiles. He dances with him in the abandoned church. He pats Harry's shoulder. He wants to see Harry fighting a bear. He is the only one who likes Harry's failed karaoke attempts. He wants to protect Harry from knowing about the pale. He sits for several hours on the swing to help Harry realise his have sunk his car. He compliments your weird disco snake shoes. Kim and Harry are a pair, grean and orange goes together

Kim is funny, contradictory, caring, multifaceted person. But he is forced to keep himself in tight control all the time, to hide his hobbies and interests and feelings just so this world, that is hostile to his existence because of his race, sexuality, and disability, wouldnt hurt him. But being with Harry is what finally gives him some freedom and safety to open up.

"uninteresting" is the Mask that Kim puts for this world. This is what he *wants* anyone to believe. But he is not that, not even close. You just falling for this character's facade!! Wake up!!
