House Rules RPG has launched!

House Rules RPG is an online rulebook and toolset for creating custom tabletop RPG campaigns. It includes a relatively short set of rules for generic tabletop role-playing games (as well as a cheat sheet for reference), a character creator, a quest writing tool, and a dice simulator.

House Rules RPG is a free, easy-to-learn alternative to complicated and costly modern tabletop games. It strips away the genre-specific rules and offers the basic systems and tools for you to build any kind of tabletop game you can dream of. Take inspiration from your favorite games, tv shows, movies, and books, and build the game YOU want to play. You can save your characters and quests to your browser, but I recommend printing (either hard copies or to PDF) so that your GM can have a copy of your character sheets.

There’s a few more features I’d like to implement over the next few weeks, mostly creating some sample quests (the sample characters are already completed) but I’ll call this the beta launch.

DnD and Pathfinder are too complicated and staunchly fantasy, and instead of modding it to hell and back I’ve decided to build my own generic tabletop rpg creator.
