A Dentist for the Dragon {Ventuswill & Dolce}
[Raises brow, speaking in a rather sing-song voice:] Your molars will suffer if you don’t. [Steps closer, and adds:] … And your morals. Breathing in the faces of others is a privilege, Divine Wind… [Lightly taps the dragon’s lip] So do it with good hygiene.
*Flicks her tail back and forth in agitation* Fine then. Although, I still do not completely understand what your true purpose is. *Opens her mouth wide for the girl* Satisfied?
What? ... Why are you acting suspicious? [Has a sort of pout.] This is my job. And... I'm being "friendly." [Expression lightens up once she sees the dragon has complied. Looks inside her mouth.] Now. The last time you brushed was...?
Dancing [Dolce/Mist]
"Insanity?" Mist blinked. "Well, I suppose some might try to call me that too! They’d be wrong, though. And to be honest, I don’t know what you mean by blocking out noise… It when I’m off in the clouds that I tend to hear things most clearly."
"Really? I would think a top hat is a classic look. I wonder if it would only suit you though.. Would you mind if I try?" Mist asked. "Although I don’t think I’d look as cute as you, I still think it’d be fun to try a hat like that one."
Perhaps Dolce was taking the stranger too literally, but she couldn't find any sense in the other woman's words.
"That's a parad--" she began, and cut herself off. No point in voicing her misunderstanding. There was only so much she could take in one sitting.
Dolce didn't have to worry about it much however. She was soon distracted by the mystical girl's commentary.
"Hm." She hesitated. "..Guess it wouldn't hurt." She slipped off her top hat and made as if to place it on the blonde's head, but her hands wouldn't hover over mid-air.
The Joke's On You || {Dolce & Marian}
looking-for-patients:
Marian had become very fond of the night.
It was a very convenient time to work — when her grandmother was asleep and wouldn’t stop her. It meant she could get away with so much more. She stirred her cauldron, humming quietly to herself — when she heard a noise, and froze. Her grandmother, maybe, up for a midnight snack? She crept away from the cauldron, looking for the source of the noise.
There was some dark figure outside the window. What… was that thing human? It was hard to tell… Marian grabbed her syringe, eyes narrowing, and aimed straight for it. Let it come, whatever it was. She was prepared.
Dolce hadn’t caught sight of the syringe. Her sight was poor in this form. She didn’t hear the tell-tale signs of people either; a shaky “Who’s there” or a scream would’ve helped. So naturally ... she continued to rattle the door.
My, what heavy sleepers, she thought. She cast a glance towards the doorknob and reached out, twisting it open with a jerk. The light that poured onto her was dim and she couldn't detect anything. Reaching her arms out with a guttural noise, Dolce staggered forwards in search.
((ok was going to do replies but then i saw the kiel anon and
roleplaying is a fucking hobby okay if you are going to make it feel like a stressful chore then get out . you're missing the whole point. ))
The Joke's On You || {Dolce & Marian}
Embarking on strange quests wasn't Dolce's business, but she liked her freedom once in a while. While this dare was stale as the chocolates in her room, at least she had gotten started. The dark spirits weren't tracking her progress anyway, were they?
She had tried to come up with several ways of spooking strangers. Fake blood? No, it would take weeks to wash off. Make-believe brains? Perhaps, but that idea was overused. Pico? As if. Today was one of the few she'd convinced her ghost companion to stay home.
She was about to go with worm-filled sleeves when she remembered that she herself was horrifying enough in monster form. And that's how she ended up rattling the windows of a so-called "witch" apothecary as Marinetta. The town was Sharance, the place she'd chosen to start. It was fabled to be filled with creeps. No one would pass her as anything but another monster here, anyway. The darkness hid her well.
[Runs up the stairs, getting out of breath halfway] Alright - Ventuswill, open up your mouth so I can see those teeth.
*narrows her eyes at her, her tail flickering back and forth in an agitated way* Whatever for?
[Raises brow, speaking in a rather sing-song voice:] Your molars will suffer if you don’t. [Steps closer, and adds:] … And your morals. Breathing in the faces of others is a privilege, Divine Wind… [Lightly taps the dragon’s lip] So do it with good hygiene.
[Stashes her anatomical skeleton in one of the castle's closets, quickly gliding down an empty corridor before they can be noticed]
[After an exhausting day exploring the dungeons, he enters his room and starts to take off his outer armor, stretching with a content sigh as he does so. Gathers all the pieces into his arms and with a free hand slides open a closet door — only to have a skeleton fall out as he does so. ]
[Lets out a shriek of horror, dropping his clothes and bolting out of the castle, screeching and half clothed.]
[As soon as she hears the high-pitched scream, she smugly peels herself from wall] … Well, Pr— [But is in for a shock when she sees the clothes on the floor.] …! [Lifts them in confusion before suddenly feeling guilt rise up inside. What if he had been genuinely attacked, and it was her fault for not saving him? Grabs a lantern from the wall and runs off in search, following the general direction of the screeching she heard]
Ghostly Shenanigans || [Dolce&Mist]
"Hallows Eve"? Hm… You know, I think I have heard of that somewhere. I believe i’s a holiday to honor the dead, especially saints and the like. I’ve celebrated some holidays that praise the spirits, but not the dead, so much. I hear it’s celebrated sort of like the pumpkin festival. Did you know the pumpkin festival was originally done with turnips?
[Pico starts snickering with a hand to her mouth: "Oh, so you do know! I was just wondering if you'd qualify for my assignment, which counts as honoring the dead!" Dolce rolls her eyes and speaks over the babbling ghost:] So you have a healthy alternative to Halloween.
Dancing [Dolce/Mist]
"Oh, am I?" Mist said, tilting her head and smiling. "Hm… I guess you’re right! I suppose I’m innocent enough. I get scolded by my good friend for having my head in the clouds all the time, hee. But I suppose it’s not such a bad thing, eh?"
"You seem like a kind of rare person too, you know," Mist said. "For example… I don’t know a lot of people who wear top hats. It looks really cute on you!~"
"Depends..." She inhaled, casting a distant glance at a patch of flowers near them. "...Some might call it insanity. But it seems nice to be able to tune out all the useless noise."
She grit her teeth automatically, anticipating what the girl meant by 'kind of rare too'. Once she found out, Dolce almost scoffed.
"Been waiting for the day when someone would appreciate my tastes," she replied, albeit not as coolly as she'd wished. Her mind was still trying to take in the surprise.
I dare you to try and spook 3 strangers. It's October~ best get ready for Halloween, right?
No, you've misunderstood. Halloween has to get ready for me.
Ghostly Shenanigans || [Dolce&Mist]
Hmmm. Isn’t it rather dangerous to make pacts with spirits? Ah well, I think I can trust you! I do want my soul after all, so I’ll hear you out. /Turns and winks at Dolce before turning to Pico/ So, what is the condition? More than likely I’ll agree.
[Catches the wink, widening her eyes before muttering:] Guess this is what you meant with the danger. [Pico cackles and rubs her hands together. "That was so ea-- oh! Well..." The ghost falters for a moment, before puffing out her cheeks. "Hm, let's see... oh, is it true that off in some magical land they have this thing called Hallows Eve?"]
Dancing [Dolce/Mist]
"In a sense, yes, I think that about sums it up," Mist said. "Of course, it’s natural to chase after what you love. But sometimes you’ll find it’s best for someone else if you let them go off and do their own thing… What’s that saying… ‘Everyone you meet is meant to play a role in your life, but not everyone is meant to stay’… Or something like that. I wonder if parents feel that way as well…."
Mist looked serious for a moment, then smiled. “But, I think it’s also important to dance in life, right? To stretch our your legs and see where they take you. Heading off into parts unknown might seem a little bit dangerous… In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s dangerous- but it’s worked out well for me when I needed to go. So, there’s that.”
"That would explain a lot of things."
She inhaled sharply at the word 'parent.' It was almost as if this person knew. Dolce glanced away from her intense blue gaze.
"You're innocent." Her shoulders loosened slowly as the girl smiled. Pushing the unwanted thought to the back of her head, she offered them a thoughtful look. "But not naïve. It's rare."
@Dolce/Mist
Whew! You know, I always had a knack for being lucky! Here I was, carelessly wishing for a ghost, and I find one who's had enough souls for the day. Well little ghost, do you think you can put in a good word for me not to be taken by the other ghosts? I'd appreciate keeping my soul where it is.
[Dolce shakes her head in a minatory manner.] Don't listen to- [«Hm- fine, but only on one teeeeeeeensy condition,» Pico smirks. «'What is it, Pico? What's the condition? I'll do anything for you!' C'mon, let's hear ya say it!»]
Dancing [Dolce/Mist]
Mist thought for a moment. “Hm… yes, I think so.” Mist said. “I’m not saying that it would have been the right thing… But I think it was the thing she would have done.”
"I don’t think the mermaid knew what she was getting herself into in the first place, I’ll admit… but to feel terrible pain each time you took a step… and then to dance despite all that… You don’t do that for someone you would demand anything of. When she gave up her voice, she lost the ability to tell him how she felt, or ask him to love her. But I don’t think she cared."
"She was sad when the prince didn’t love her back to be sure… But I’m not sure if she regretted her choice, exactly. With a knife in her hand, she could have killed him… but I think what people forget too, is that she could have killed the woman he loved. It would be terrible, sure, but I know in many legends people have done such things. But no one thinks of it, because the mermaid didn’t think of it. She chose to let them both live happily together, because that was the kind of love she had for him. In the end, I think although she was sad she couldn’t be with him, she was glad she had danced for him."
She listened to Mist explain, and her throat dried. The words she said weren't making a lot of sense now, but something told her later on she would come to realize what they meant.
"Oh."
Dolce couldn't manage much else. It was a moment before she told herself she was getting soft too easily.
"Well that's funny." Her nose was scrunching a little, "If you like somebody, you should let them go, then?"
! /gasps, her body tensing up, and quickly turns around. Although she keeps the same expression on her face, her body relaxes again/
Oh dear- How terrifying! Please little ghost, don’t hurt me~!
[Pico's hands fly to her hips, and she sticks out her tongue, speaking in a perky voice. «I'll think about it! You're lucky I already had enough souls for today - but maaaybe the other ghosts are still searching!"»]
