jokes to make after failure that arenât self-deprecating:
Iâm the best to ever do it
Nobody saw that (best if said loudly)
No oneâs ever done it like me
I could be President/they should make me President
Behold, a mere fraction of my power!
The public wants to be me soooooo bad
Iâm an expert in (thing you just failed at)
How could this have happened to godâs favorite princess?
Nothing ibuprofen and a glass of water cant fix
Iâm being sabotaged
if I ever strike gold and end up writing a popular book series i'd love to keep an eye on the fandom to determine the smallest crackship and make that the only one that goes canon
those three people in the fandom when the final book drops and the rarepair kisses:
(watching any horror movie) i simply would not try that hard to survive
you want me to get my real estate licence? the very thing that almost got jonathan harker killed???
Love the random censorship in Victorian novels. Mr. ------- came down from -----shire in the summer of 18--. Who? Where? When? Wouldn't you like to know, book boy
There was a footnote about this in the annotated Jane Austen Iâve been reading. I canât find it again right now (will post if I manage to come across it again), but if I remember correctly, this kind of thing happened because people were so aware of who the most important landowners were in each county and where the military regiments attached to each shire were stationed when that it would break disbelief if an author said something like, âSir So-and-so was the Earl of Shropshire,â or whatever, when the reader knew that the Earls of Shropshire were the Such-and-such family. So the dashes formed double duty of not having the fictional person contradict anything the reader might know about the real people in the real place, and avoiding making it seem like the fictional people are veiled commentaries on any real people.
Austen didnât tend to censor where her characters were from as they werenât high rank enough to bother with, but she censored the counties attached to her military regiments so that she could play fast and loose with the regimentâs movements and no real regiment would be slandered by having Wickhamâs behavior associated with them.
in modern day we slap a "any resemblance to real people or events is unintentional" preface on everything instead, which drastically changed modern conventions surrounding name dropping fictional characters in historical fiction
Shout out to mentally ill people who dropped out of school
- shout out to the kids who were âso brightâ and âheading somewhereâ and had to drop out because school was too much to handle along with mental illness
- shout out to the kids who struggled to get where they got before they dropped out
- shout out to the kids who tried and tried and tried and still couldnât finish
you arenât unintelligent because you dropped out of school, you arenât a delinquent or a bad person because you dropped out of school, just because you did what you had to doesnât make you a bad person
Why did we ever stop wearing 18th century clothing
to wear 19th century clothing you Georgian rake

Honestly the whole early 2000's Ocean's 11 trilogy is a fucking masterpiece of cinematography and you should watch it
linus' parents intrigue me so much. they're ridiculously rich and powerful people who just let their anxious, sweetheart only child run around with a bunch of gay criminals because they know said criminals are sooo protective of him and yet will also teach him independence and confidence and make him a better person and so they are truly just nonexistent in his life unless he's in True Trouble like do they think danny ocean's gang is a summer camp? and also how linus hates how his family fusses over him and it's implied they're relentless mother hens and yet you never see them and truly Are giving him space. but their relationship is also strained because he only ever pretends he's okay with them but with danny and rusty and rueben and the gang they're close enough with him to tease him, encourage him to grow and are attentive enough to know that he'd been crying for example in 13. like even the rough gruff criminal uncle #14 knows if linus caldwell is sad. and yet he barely talks to his parents and yet they also Vaguely have eyes on him at all times personal safety wise yet are so out of tune with him as a person. it's sooooo fascinating. his home life intrigues me so bad. #rants
Iâve been back on my oceans kick and does anyone else think itâs cute that in the beginning Danny asked Frank âDo you know where he is?â You would think with the newspaper heâs reading he would be talking about Ruben, but Frank is like âur bf is in Vegas go make hot and heavy eye contactâ and they flirted over poker????? And everyone shipped them so hard except for Linus who was having a sexuality crisis while simultaneously having an authority crisis.
definitely not all 13 of the oceans 13 were fucking each other. but some of them were. and i know this. and you know this. and we know this.
not to be an american but like. air conditioning is the greatest invention of all time.

"âWeren't you asking, even before the beginning, whether we could caress or stroke each other with our eyes? And touch the look that touches you?
And let us not exclude either that certain experiences of touching (of "who touches whom") do not simply pertain to blows and caresses. What about a kiss? Is it one caress among many? What about a kiss on the mouth?" âJacques Derrida, On Touching, Jean-Luc Nancy
âEat, drink, swallow my letter, carry it, transport it in you, like the law of a writing become your bodyâ "I am a dictation ... learn me by heart, copy me down, guard and keep me, look out for me, look at me, dictated dictation, right before your eyes." âJacques Derrida, Che cos'Ăš Ia poesia?Â
