Finished it off strong with a cute Adrinette piece💙💛
@marichatmay day 28: Midnight Encounter.
When I saw this trend my marichat brain connect the idea with a late night "date" between them (Chat Noir took the picture btw)
random married ladynoir idea i got in my head so i made some quick doodles
Back in the old days, this fandom was speculating over if Adrien would ever figure out Ladybugs true identity or the fact that his scarf was not from his father Gabriel but instead a gift from his "good friend" Marinette.
Now, we're wondering whether he will figure out his mother's dead body was in his basement, that he has a basement, that his now dead father is the very super villain who hes been fighting for months and not the hero everyone says he is, that he's a sentibeing made by his mother, that his creation was the catalyst for his mothers death and fathers turn to villany, his father's assistant/his current mother figure was also a super villain (now 'redeemed'), that his father left him a wholeass letter which exposed the truth and tried to get him to follow in his footsteps, and that his current girlfriend (Marinette), cousin (also a sentibeing), ex girlfriend (also a sentibeing), Aunt (I think?), Kwamii and current mother figure all know about this and are/have been actively lying to him.
Oh, and whether or not he will find out that Marinette is Ladybug, of course.
Simpler days...
“I am a strong person. But every once in a while I would like someone to hold my hand and tell me things are going to be OK.”

It was a good thing that one of the languages that his parents required him to learn was French. A fact which may or may not be one of the main reasons he had come to France first for inspiration for his own cafe back home in Japan.
Talk about a culture shock since coming too, but in a good way! Paris was known as the city of love and just from the architecture and the landscape/cityscape, he could see why. Something about it just said romance, especially when the sun was starting to set as he noted the night before.
Now he stood before one of the widely recommended bakeries. The locals had insisted he had to try it out when he made small talk with them and learned he was a foreigner. Even now he couldn't help but feel a burst of pride in himself that his French was so good, even the locals didn't know it wasn't his first language. Here he was thinking that his accent was off all this time.
Those were the thoughts in the back of his mind as he opened the door and stepped up to the counter with a warm smile.
"Hello, I'm new to Paris and this bakery is highly recommended. Which pastries would you suggest for a first timer?"
Last batch in the oven!
Marinette smiles softly at the croissants as she closes the oven door gently. She pushes open the door to the front-of-the-house, wiping her hands before throwing the towel over her shoulder.
Her smiles widens as the mental list of inventory is pleasantly interrupted by the chime of the door. "Welcome to Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie," she greets.
Now with most customers, she makes sure to give space as they make their choices, but this was her favorite type of customer- new and looking for suggestions!
"Well welcome to Paris! I hope you're enjoying it and I'm super excited we were recommended to you!" Marinettes arms motion to the wide variety of baked goods, "As you can see we have a lot to choose from. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with anything, but if you're looking for suggestions.. what are you into? Sweet, sour.. simple, fancy... If you can tell me what you're in the mood for, I'll do my best to pick something you'll love!"

Huh.
Her mind was racing a million miles a second trying to get her thoughts in order- a mental checklist forming. She would do everything in her power to help Adrien. Both in and out of the mask.
His hand on her shoulder causes her to stop abruptly and every thought disappears as she stops to look at him. “Fine’s subjective, you know,” she lets out a small sigh, confident she doesn’t have the energy to fool him. He trusts her, she can return the favor by being honest.
“All things considered.. I am fine. Not great, just fine,” her mind drifts back to her newly retired super hero partner. Knowing that two of the most important people are going through so much reminds her that she has to have the strength to keep going. She’d sooner die than let her friends suffer alone.
“I want you to know that helping you is my number one priority now, my head is definitely in the game. I was just a little preoccupied before you told me. One of my friends qu– uh, quit their job and I don’t know if.. I’ll ever see them again.” Saying it out loud causes an ache in her chest as the reality hits her.
“They.. moved away.” In a sense that was true, and definitely as much truth as she could give Adrien without compromising herself. “He was also going through some big things in life, I think. I had been busy and hadn’t really noticed until he told me he was leaving. In hindsight, I didn’t really react the best way… you know me. I kinda panicked and at the time I thought being supportive was the best call. Now I don’t know,” she rambles worriedly.
“He can take care of himself, I know that. I just feel kinda helpless.. like I let him down. Like I didn’t try hard enough to see it.. I was just so oblivious. I didn’t get a ton of sleep last night thinking about it, and I couldn’t find any scenario where I could fix everything.” Finally saying it aloud made it all too real, and while the guilt weighed heavy on her shoulders, it felt nice knowing she had someone she could talk to.
“ It’ll help if I focus on helping you, though. Thank you for trusting me, I promise I’ll do everything I can,” she reassures him.
He knew there was something wrong when he saw those dark circles and the false smile. He hadn’t realized it had to do with him though. Well his Chat Noir side at least. It was far too much of a coincidence not to be. She only heard today about his plans to leave Gabriel and his influence behind so that only left Chat Noir. He remembered that Ladybug had told him as Chat Noir that she knew Marinette somehow too. Had LB already told her? Made sense, someone had to if Chat Noir himself couldn’t.
The guilt came back again that he hadn’t stopped to tell Marinette about what he was doing first. Now here she was, worried about him and none the wiser that her hero friend was right there beside her. And that was how it would have to remain. Though there was one thing he could do for her.
“You mean Chat Noir right? He talked about you to me a few times. Actually he asked me to apologize for him that he didn’t come to see you first. I too was too preoccupied with what’s going on with me to remember at first. I’m sorry. He told me its just temporary though and he’ll be suited up again in no time.”
He gave her shoulder a soft squeeze of reassurance as he gave her a sympathetic smile. He really messed up when he didn’t go to her to tell her about his temporary absence. He could see that now. After all, who else would she be talking about other than Chat Noir? He knew Nino and he knew Alya through Nino. If something that big was happening to either of them then he’d have known too. That only left Chat then as far as he knew.
“He doesn’t feel you’ve let him down, Marinette. So don’t worry, okay? If he did, he wouldn’t have asked me to give you that message right?” he added, hoping to ease her guilt. “He probably wouldn’t have told me if–” Probably shouldn’t mention his dad could be Hawkmoth yet.. So he cleared his throat instead. “Nevermind, he asked me to apologize to you and assure you he’d be back. That means you’re special to him right?”
Really she took too much on herself and felt guilt for things she never should. All while balancing school, homework, being class rep, working in the bakery, babysitting, and on top of all of that, still having time to design. Not to mention trouncing opponents in video games and somehow still having a social life with her friends in spite of all of that. She really was as amazing and special as he called her. That was even before considering she was a hero for a day, a cute little mouse.
Chat Noir had gone to see Adrien?
"That's... I didn't realize you two were close." There's a twinge of pain in her chest, thinking Chat Noir had said his goodbyes and Marinette didn't quite make the VIP list. All she could think of were the times behind the mask that Chat Noir had made little quips about the model. "I'm glad he got to tell you," and while she wishes that would have put her at ease, she can feel a knot forming in her gut.
Sooner or later Hawkmoth would realize she was protecting Paris alone. She shudders at the thought, but her stomach turns thinking about giving the ring to anyone else. Especially after the last conversation she'd had with Adrien. Thank god he didn't know it was her.
"You're right," she agrees, not quite believing herself. "You know me, I was probably out running around when he stopped by, never know where to find me" she says now completely lying to herself.
"Okay, yeah. Chat Noir is hero after all, he doesn't need me worrying about him,"but Ladybug should've worried a little more... "He'll come back when and if he's ready. Let's get back to you," she offers trying to push everything else out of her mind. Finding a new partner hero, protecting the miraculous, and helping Adrien was realistically too many things to focus on at once. So, she would pick the one that she was the most confident in.
"Where were we?" she asked, her confident facade no longer slipping. "Oh right, a budget, my dad--" she pulls her phone out from her bag creating a new excel sheet before texting her dad to ask if he's home.
"I'm excited to look at apartments, I've always dreamed of decorating my own place," she mentions as she begins scrolling through available listings.
in season 4 ladybug should’ve just let chat noir sniff the new heros through the laundry door first so he could get used to them smh
Feels good to draw something stupid again
well i wanna draw something stupid too
Play it cool.
As his phone slid back into his pocket, Marinette finally found the sense to speak, “Of course,” she agreed. Her feet began down the familiar path to home while her hands held tightly to her purse strap.
So it was related, she was part of his exit plan. And despite her dismay for the current events, she was grateful he trusted her civilian self enough to ask for help. Marinette wasn’t great at sitting on the sidelines, and this way she could stay on top of everything without having to wait for him to call Ladybug. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but Adrien didn’t seem very keen on her super hero persona..
“I’m sure my dad wouldn’t mind,” she says as an attempt to ease his anxiety. “Finally getting out from under your old man’s roof,” she jokes, but it tastes like acid leaving her mouth. Marinette doesn’t know the reason, she reminds herself. “About time, if you ask me,” she gives him a playful bump to his shoulder. “You’re nervous how he’ll react if you go?” Although she fully knows he’s more concerned about whether his father is public enemy number 1 of Paris. “Shouldn’t be hard to go no contact, seems like he doesn’t care to talk much to begin with…”
“That’ll be step one, then,” she agrees. We can use my computer to find something. We’ll have to pick location.. move in dates.. oh, and a budget, of course.“ The growing list is enough to provoke some of her own anxiety. “Don’t worry about it,” she back tracks. “I’m good at planning. You can count on me, Adrien.” She flashes him a smile with her eyes closed.
For some reason she’s afraid that if he sees into her eyes he’ll unravel her own worries on the situation, and that’s the last thing she needs right now.
