FOOD, BO.

Bo rolls onto his side with a grunt. “Okay, okay, I’m uuup.” Each word is muffled—like there’s cotton between his teeth. The sunlight (bright as ever) hurts like a sonuvabitch.

He groans, squints at the blurred figure in his peripheral, and finally: “What do ya need, kid?”

My hands shoved the mass of a man in front of me. They pushed him with a force, only able to move him slightly. It was enough to be able to wake him up, however.

Bo started to get up reluctantly. He was an odd man. I used to see him all the time at Benny’s. Back then, I thought he just a lonely man with nothing to do. But then again, I used to think that of Benny himself.

My eyes studied him as he pushed himself upwards. He was tired, but it was morning. From my understanding, you’re not tired in the morning because you got all of your sleep. Then again, I don’t get tired, so I couldn’t understand the feeling he experiences quite frequently.

After his long, drawn out awakening process, he finally muttered something to me.

“ Food. “ almost all questions asked to me could be answered in this fashion. Single words -- which were often the only way I could speak to people -- and food related items. I need my sustenance acc- ording to Mike.

“ I’m hungry. “
