Today (June 10, 2026) marks one year since the sh00ting at Dreierschützengasse secondary school in Graz, Austria.
21-year-old Arthur Achleitner perpetrated the attack, the deadliest in Austria, on June 10, 2025. The motive remains unknown but was likely a mix of depression, past bullying, and a fascination with other infamous shooters (particular the 1999 columbine attack and 2024 abundant life shootings in Colorado and Wisconsin). Achleitner had planned the attack for some time and left an unreleased video to his family beforehand. He moved between two classrooms, killing 10 and wounding 11, before ending his life in a bathroom as police arrived. He fired a total of 40 bullets between a 12 gauge shotgun and 9mm Glock pistol in the 10-minute shooting spree.
