I was gonna gush in the tags, but Iāll probably have too much to say. I just gotta talk about how much I love Rainbow Dashās Rainbow House. I think it was my first ever Ponyville Playset, and I remember it when it was new!!
biggest core memory with that thing is how hard it was to open. and then once you pull hard enough to actually open the house, itās with such force you end up smacking yourself. my cloud elevator had also broken off, like the one in the picture.
before the accessories got scattered to the wastes of time, I remember LOVING the little cardboard envelope accessories. the writing on them was so, so tiny, but legible! IIRC even inside the house thereās a letter sticker on the upstairs desk with words, or maybe it was an open diary page. Either way, as a kid I would spend so much time just gazing at the beautiful little house and all the precious little details.
thatās something Iāve always liked in G3ā the Ponyville sets had personality and care infused into them. They felt alive, like each playset told its own story that you had to discover via closer inspection. (compare that to G4ās ācastlesā which were flimsy, cheap, andā later in G4ās runā made of mostly one plain, unpainted, barely-molded, geometric chunk of plastic.
Rainbow Dashās Rainbow House was so small but bursted with detail at every corner. Sure, the cloud elevator mechanic and opening mechanism were subpar, but those are my ONLY critiques. all else is praise.
Were the cloud elevator to remain functional, it would lead up to the little green balcony big enough for two ponies to hang out.
That star on top of the roof, in front of the rainbow? You can spin it around. What does it turn? The ceiling fan inside the house. To the right of the star, thereās a heart-shaped peg and the house came with a bluebird friend who could perch atop the roof with it.
Rainbow Dashās bed was a cloud on a rainbow frame with a hook at the top. The bed hooked into the ceiling of the bedroom and dangled so the bed looked like it was floating. The bedroom had a sculpted rug, and even the background sticker for it, if memory serves, had so much detail to it. On the walls, there were little shelves big enough to comfortably arrange some accessories, like a flower vase or a photo of the core 7.
And can we talk about the mailbox?? I mentioned the envelope accessories earlierā they fit through the little slot and the back of it is open so you can easily retrieve them! The pink pathway? Big enough for the Ponyville car accessories to drive through, just like in the Ice Cream Shake Diner! I remember having my ponies drive by Rainbow Dashās house to deliver her mailā undoubtedly cute letters from her pony pen pals.
I loved that house and everything it came with it. Still have it in storage, faded and beloved beyond recognition. Thanks for returning the memories, op!
