he’s making sure Sherlock doesn’t hurt them both on the harsh metal of the cuffs. he’s so aware of Sherlock’s tendency to just run off, expecting and knowing that John will follow along and John does, always, but what he knows Sherlock doesn’t take into overmuch consideration (because John is always there by his side by the time Sherlock turns around) is that when Sherlock darts off unexpectedly it takes John a couple of moments to realise he’s gone and those are the moments today in which metal will dig into their wrists and really it’s such a minor hurt given they’re on the run from the police, given Sherlock’s a fugitive now, given Moriarty’s out there tearing his life and his name to shreds, but it’s still a wound that John can prevent and so he does, a grounding hold like a child kept on reins to keep them close because there’s just no point in adding an extra thought into Sherlock’s mess of things to think about. “don’t stray away, it’s dangerous” isn’t necessary. This is one thing John can cover for them both, even if there’s nothing else he can do, and so this he does.

hey your gifs are all great quality, how do you get around the problem of photoshop making them all grainy when you go to save? i work off hd stuff and it's great when i'm working on it, but a lot of the time the quality is reduced when i hit save. sorry to bother you!

Hello anon! Thank you for your message! Okay so here’s some tips for keeping gifs looks all sparkly and lovely.

When making your gif, make sure you use as few frames as possible. Less frames = smaller size gif, which is good for quality! You can normally delete a few frames without it making the gif jumpy if you need to. Also, if the background is completely still, you can copy a frame from your gif, put it right at the top of the layers and just erase the moving part. The fewer parts of your gif that are moving the smaller the size of the gif! For example this gif:

I just put a static frame over the top and erased john and sherlock moving. It will look like this:

Once you’ve made your gif, select all the frames in the timeline and flatten them. Then flatten all the layers too.

Then go to Filter > Convert for Smart Filters

Then go to Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen

Use these settings (this will sharpen the image edges and also make the quality nice and soft on skin and such)

Then when you go to save your gif, use these settings:

You can lower the colours and dither a little but the higher they are the better quality!
