Beckett’s not used to sleeping soundly; he remembers being wired all the time before. It felt like he went days without sleep. Tobin spent twenty-five years safe underground, his most formative, and still manages to sleep in the Appalachian wasteland.

Nick Valentine knows how to tie a tie, but he just chooses to leave it. You think Ellie ever tries to fix it and he shoos her hands away?

Maybe he runs the risk of overheating if he keeps the shirt collar and tie properly tightened.

I also have to imagine that tieing a tie with one hand that has no feeling in it (since you'd think that any tactile sensors would be in the artificial skin, not the metal framework that acts as his skeleton) is very hard.

I read a fic on AO3 that gave the idea that his exposed hand snags the fabric of the tie when he attempts to tighten it up (which leads to the sole survivor doing it for him, it is a very sweet fic). I can't remember the name of the fic but I'll add it to this post when I find it!

Why are there caps everywhere? - a Fallout 4 Headcanon

MacCready sat there in Nick’s office with a puzzled frown on his face. “What’s up?”, Sole asked. “If people used to use those bits of paper as money, why is it that when we unlock places that no-one has been in since the war, we find bottlecaps stashed in tins and tacked at the back of drawers?”

Sole had no answer for this but Nick came to the rescue. “Don’t you remember, partner? There was some big promotion going on. ‘Collect bottlecaps and be in with a chance to win a million dollars, a family trip to Nuka World, a car or a variety crate with half a dozen bottles of Nuka Cola!’ Nick dropped the commercials-guy voice and watched Sole’s face light up in slow-mo recognition. “Now I remember,” they said. “The prize draw was due to happen that Christmas Eve but you had to hand your caps in by Hallowe'en. I bet it was rigged, anyway.”

WOW. I can't believe I never questioned caps being all over pre-war buildings. This would make SO MUCH sense. We know Sunset Sarsaparilla did the promotional thing with the blue star bottle caps so it fits super well into the universe!
